The price is simple: I spent more than 1 hour on a sig. In game, a person can make about 30 mils per hour, that is not a problem, some make more. I really don't think I am all that expensive, considering the amount of time I spent on each project. But hey, if you want a free sig, you can always put [I want free] in your request and someone will answer. Good example is Swallow, he does it for ... and giggles and he seems to be great at it.

You definetely have skills with photoshop that go beyond the common tech brush spam, that's a fact. It's honestly then just a matter of practice and having enough time to dedicate to the project.

Creativity is also a decisive factor I guess.

Creativity is the key. Practicing does nothing, but making you faster with the software you are working with. If you "practice" a lot, sure you can get some tricks down, that will make your work stand out from others, but it is going to be generic. By generic, i mean always looking similar and not much different from other works on the internet.
You can learn the software, you can read/watch tutorials, but if you don't have an eye for it, there is nothing you can do.
