As far as I'm aware teleportation is already a reality. Scientists have already managed to successfully trasport a single Proton (A small part of an atom for those who don't know and should probably go back to school)
I belive the only thing holding it back is bandwith, which is a little strange I spose.
From the time it took to transport the proton it was calculated it would take over a billion years to transport an entire human down the best fiberoptic broadband system that currently exists, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that in that time you wouldn't be alive when you came out the other end.
Until a system can be created where your entire body can be "uploaded" and "downloaded" instantly its pretty much at a dead end.

uploading and downloading is indeed a (very basic) form of teleportation.
Though nothing physical is being teleported, information gets sent from A to B.
And yeah , single Protons have been teleported already.
Well, considering that the information is being carried on a great bunch of electrons, which either go thru cable, or in the case of wi-fi, it makes the emitter generate waves equivalent to the info carried on, what the receptor can transform back to the form of electrons, I wouldn't call it teleportation. I imagine that as something goes whoosh at point A and suddenly appears at point B. Maybe i'm a bit narrow minded on this.
I think the various questions the possibility raises are very interesting. If you could have a 100% accurate duplicate of someone down to the lowest of levels, would that be a different person? If you are 100% the same, can you even argue that it isn't you since it clearly is by definition? It's also interesting to think what that can do to our understanding of the idea of consciousness.
Most importantly, imagine what laws will do when something of the sort is first performed successfully.
By your replay i understood that we need to find out how we can clone someone before we jump into teleportation right?Because uploading yourself into an computer interface enviroment and then downloading elsewhere dosent mean that the computer will erase "your information"
Why so? 4d!!? i dont think of it relevent to teleportation
Edit: YES! you mean teleportation over large dfistance of space...yes we need a 4rth dimension for that but we actuali need some vehicle to travel there first
