I agree there, don't open up the ID to everyone but poke those that have it to be around more often.
(I have seen a rise in Wilde presence as of late though)
If you really cared for more than just getting yourself a nom ships and guns, you'd use 'search' button and realize that this has been discussed looong loong time ago (day, the muuuuusic died. So byee bye miss American pie...)
No matter how hard you try, you just cant deny the little "Can attack any ship or station at will." thingy. Like Revan_ said, hanging such 'benefit' to 'just' someone would lead to (especially with those 'new' players you mentioned in your post) pvp abuse.
You are absolutely right on the point, that Nomad activity should rise. But let me enlighten you young one. Mostly being a member of nomad faction leads to "Nomad!!!! Engagublin. Eradicate! Everone halt, and attack nomad instead!" which, afterwards, leads to sexy gankbang of your own imagination.
Reason why most Keepers (speaking as oldie here sowy, but i guess KHara are much alike) prolly got bored or annoyed by being member of nomad faction, because they simply got pewpewd at instantly. That itself may be the reason of their inactivity. Too many player unwilling to RP with them... Or should i say, too few willing to RP with them...?
Now for the trolling part of my reply.
I wouldnt freely hand it over to someone like you who says: "Im here 1month, but i wanna nomad, so can i has?" Something tells me you didnt even try to apply to KHara, and even if you did, your simply not the patient one. Pathetic topic as these are in my eyes Q_Q-attemts to achieve something the easy way.
I dont know why it had not happened yet, but i think the devs decided not to freely hand it over, and im glad. Wanna be nomad? Wanna has shinny ships and purple gunsies? Apply to the faction. Its lot more easy to get it KHara as it was to Keepers. So you should be grateful, and sacrifice some time to it. Be patient.
'new' players (you being one of them i presume since there is always more to learn in ze discooo!) would only bring dissaster to nomad RP, turning its diamond existence to " *** you 'human' and kos to 'nomads' so i -die- you *** kind of thingy. Maybe not you directly, but by few its most likely to happen.
Quote:Even the Terrorist ID doesn't allow to engage without a word.
This. And its because it is automaticaly expected of those wielding the IDs, to properly RP, and honor the RP part of this server as Igiss created it. It is theirs (ours should i say) responsibility some sort, to never think of abusing the little "Can attack any ship or station at will." thingy.
Well, would lie to you if i said i never abused it myself, but never hand clearminded intentions to do so. Only after "Nomaaaaad!!! Keeeel! Spaaartaaaa!!"
Prove them your worthy to achieve this responsibility.
Thats my opinion and answer to you.
Have to support Kikatsu's ninja message though. As hard as i try, its been a while since i last flew with more than just 3 noms. These factions should reconsider maybe even further application changes to work as a gateway, not as source. And boosting their activity that is, and i agree on that as i mentioned.
Carnage itself flying within void... Proud cardihead ever since 2008...
You all gonna eat cardi!
Actually, the current K'Hara are a totally different cycle of evolved Nomads, they're nothing like the Vanilla ones. It's like saying that the current Liberty house is just like Ancient Rome.
The lore plan is for different groups of humanity to come to talks with the Nomads and for humans and Nomads to generally leave each other alone like they do now. Select groups like the Order and Core will still fight them though.
Having a 'main' enemy in Discovery doesn't work, there can't be good vs evil, and even the Nomads vs Order vs Core isn't a war of good vs evil, everyone is morally grey, everyone is pretty much evil.
Currently, factions are and must be, political view point vs political view point, or money vs money, greed vs greed.
Discovery factions cannot be 'good' or 'bad', every Disco faction is morally ambiguous. This is why the Phantoms didn't work.
' Wrote:I still don't see how less nomad 'talk', even if the nomad is a drone, affects RP negatively.
Those who aren't quite as good with roleplay are prevented from doing OORP speech, such as screwing up telekinesis. They still however get to play as a Nomad, with a Nomad ship, and have fun.
@Altaris - I wouldn't mind getting pewpewed by everyone. I mean, seriously, it happens to the Corsairs all the time? People even go OORP to gank us. Plus, people know what they sign up for. If you go solo-flying as a Nomad into house space, what else can you expect?
I personally would enjoy seeing a few Nomads popping up and launching strikes on bases; it would give a new string to the roleplay of the server, and take us a little away from the often current situation of stale, static roleplay, which simply leads to inactivity.
I was thinking that in addition to those previously mentioned, a naming convention is enforced, and faction tags a disallowed, to preserve the roleplay aspect.
If too many disagree, this could be taken to NPCs. Have greater NPC Nomad Cruiser/Battleship patrols in the Omicrons, pushing into the houses. Also, have a number of regular fighter patrols(4-6 Nomads) striking bases.
What make me sad is that turbo squid was nerfed+ order lfs are more as good against it..
Before when nomas were ganked by snubs they always have chance to defend or escape.now the order lf is faster so no chance...
I won't repeat what all others already stated since they're all right.
I'll just add that Treewyrm and I (being leader of the Keepers back then) did submit a proposal to make the nomads open for public. We submitted it to the admins, but it was never heard from again. Seems like they thought it was a bad idea.
If you want something like this to happen, do something similar. Write down your idea, a full overview with possible downsides and upsides, and send it to the admins. Making threads on the forum will never archieve anything.
