See if there is an equivalent for smokers.
There is;
' Wrote:So on topic. Hire someone, or ask a buddy to punch you in the face everytime you try to smoke. Had a friend at factory i used to work at a few years back tell everyone in department to punch him if he tried smoking.(you cannot believe how many said No problem) And it worked after only a few shots to the head he feared smoking, and hence quit. It is like shock therapy just substitute punches for shock. Soon your brain will think smoking equals pain, and you stop craving it.
First and foremost. Good on you for choosing to do this, your doing great so far as well. I know it isn't easy!
Each person is different but I can give you some tips that helped me get through (5 months ish smoke free now).
If you don't want to quit - You will probably find it really hard, it isn't impossible, but be aware of this. I tried the "I can't afford to do it so I will quit" thing and it failed multiple times - once I decided I didn't like it and wanted to stop, it was a lot easier.
Try to avoid smokers for a few weeks, don't go outside with them while they are having one on smoko break, and make your house, and car smoke free. This doesn't mean 'don't socialise' just don't deliberately put yourself in a situation where you know you will want one. (Yes, if this means you are a 'I smoke more while drinking' kinda person, cut back on the alcohol for a few weeks too.)
Find something to keep your mind busy. Smoking is a habit. You do it when you are happy, sad, bored, excited, going for a walk, being lazy, drinking, studying - wherever you are, smokes are there. Find something else like with the metal pipe, or drawing, or doing the gardens, or anything to keep your mind occupied. If you do find yourself eating more - try carrot sticks.
Goals are handy - "After one week I will buy myself some chocolate" Make it something you really want, and have it around the same price of cigarettes, that way you have something to look forward to. best part is, you wont feel guilty about it as the money was really never there in the first place - and it gives you an added reason to quit.
The most important thing though - If you do mess up and have a smoke, don't beat yourself up over it too much, and don't get the "I can't do it, I failed once, I'll fail again" mentality. Just start again, and try again.
Good luck, and PM me/add me on skype if you need anyone to chat to.
Just remember, after the 3 week mark - it gets a whole lot easier:)

And lads like you are the reason i laugh my ass off at addicted to smoking lads bitching that they can no longer smoke in public anywhere in the City/provence/country i live in. Thats right. It is a LAW where i am that you cannot smoke 90% of indoor locations, or within 10M's of them. It is IMO a sick, discusting habit, and about 75% of all smokiers think they should have the right to endanger others health, and throw butts anywhere they please knowing they will not break down for 100years.(END RAGE!)
Good for you! Day 3 here. But I'm just out of cash and I can't leave my place for a while. We'll see how this goes.
I think someone said it but it all depends on the reason you want to quit. I've never had a real reason and that's why I fail everytime. Get a real reason and keep trying. :)
