Is this normal?

It happened to me a little while ago....
As a LR, i attacked Manhattan in my VHF, with other gunboats, we attacked, killed many oponenents and, then, i left, with a BH and a cop behind me. I was heading Rochester when the lag occured...

I stopped, to wait for the end of the lag, it lasted 30 min, I saw BH and cop ships (players) teleporting and E-killing from 10m to 20 K around me... Then, pissed-off, i went to Rochester.

My shield went down, then, my hul disapeared, and my ship blown up, after 20 seconds with no more hull...

I had one where I stopped a trader at the Cali JG, he jumped and I followed, I made my demand and then my shield collapsed, no weaponsfire, nothing. and then my hull went away and I was sad.

I undocked and ran to a Patriot with what looked like .10 of 1 bar left...
And then suddenly lag happened and my brain thought...

Demonic Patriot! Its killing me with its badly-damaged hull...

And then I promtply slapped myself, undocked and gathered my things and It didnt happen again.

I had something like this happen to me. I was in NY, it was laggy, etc. I was in the middle of nowhere, every other ship was dead, then my shield started dropping, then my hull, then BOOM! Lucky that was a new character on a defender, and I only had to buy back the bats/nanos.

Remarkably this sounds a lot like what we used to call a sniper.
Somebody with an extended range beam gun mod that the server is not catching for some reason.
It could be some other bug, but the lag going on at the same time could be because of a modder.

Though the odds of someone finding a player out in the black away from bases is slim so maybe just the lag and npc gunboats?

This is my (conspiracy) theory:

Someone has somehow hacked into the Server, turned on cloak, and is attacking people at random. Hoping to push people out of NY to get the ooRP'ers out of there.

Is this a recent thing or did this always happen?

It hasn't happened to me as yet but the server has been very laggy everytime I've been on last 3 or 4 days and I've seen people speed modding (to fast to catch any names but I did see an Interspace tag) I did wonder why the server never kicked them.

If someone is using a cloak or something and lagging the server that badly I hope they get caught soon.

I have had this happen all over the place. Once in New Berlin While fighting the RM. It is something to do with lag. It really sucks, especially when Bots and Bats stop working too.

Transports
Fighters
Bombers
GBs
Everything else.

It's kinda random.

all in all the conclusion is that disco doesn't need antagonist factions, it doesn't need phantoms, it doesn't need nomads, it doesn't need coalition and it doesn't need many other things, no AIs, the game is hijacked by morons to confuse the game with their dickwaving generic competition games mixed up with troll-of-the-day.

Well I must have jinxed myself it happened to me in Omicron Alpha during red lag my shield started draining then my hull luckily I was close to Malta and was able to land before dieing (with the help of bots and bats).

One thing I did notice though was I was getting incoming missile warnings with no hostiles on scanner at the time I checked the user list when I landed and didn't see anything suspicious so my moneys on some sort of bug.
