The unlikely child of a Bretonian father and Kusari mother, Gabriel was sheltered as a child and brought up in the happy times before the nomad war for her fist few years of life.
Born in Liberty while her mother and father were vacationing from their home on Cambridge, she attained liberty citizenship by birth. Razed on Cambridge for the first 8 years of her life, she was sheltered from the brunt of the nomad war. After her 8 years of life on cambridge, her mother and father decided it to be for the best to move to liberty. Moving back proved to be more of a challange, lacking enough money to settle on one of the pristen liberty planets, they found a home on the newly rebuilt Riverside station. Rupert found work on the docks and Yuki tended to Gabriel.
When time came for Gabriel to be sent off to some form of university, her parents found their funds somewhat lacking. With the only two option of Forgoing higher learning or Joining the Military for a scholarship, Gabriel choose to sign up for duty in the Liberty Army.
Right away, she ran into a problem. Being the young, 18 year-old with a slim build, she didn't have enough mussel strength to be considered fit for duty. Rejected from the army, she turned to the Navy as a source of income.
From the moment she stepped into a fighter, she was hooked. Sadly, her instructors didn't agree. Graduating the bottom of her class at west point, she struggled greatly with flight skills and just barely managed to scrape by. Seeing her combat skills, her instructors pushed her into the secondary fleet.
After her 3 years at west-point, she entered full time duty and served for the next two years. Managing to stay alive for that long, she decided to try and apply for the primary fleet.

Good evening Sir.
No doubt you've got most of this on file anyway; but to reiterate. I was born on Pittsburgh; my family wasn't rich but we weren't too badly off. My father used to work at the customs facilities near the heavy landing pads and I suppose it was that that eventually led me to the Army. You see, Sir, I've always had a passion for ships, particularly the larger ones. Probably hatched from watching my father work. There's just something majestic about them... Ah. My apologies, I'm ranting.
Anyway, I was always grateful at having been bought up on a core world. We never had any issues with safety, the biggest concerns we had was whether the new light was working, or that new kid at school. When I finished up at High School it really started to hit me, through the news, just how lucky that was. I wanted to give something back to the government that had ensured my family's safety for all those years, I wanted to make a difference in some small way. I enlisted in the Pittsburgh based Air Division the next year, the fact they had access to spacecraft was just a bonus. After completing basic training I was given my first assignment as a transport pilot.
Fast forward to today, and I don't really feel I've done anything. No offence to the Army, it's not their fault. Its the wars we're fighting today, Sir. Planet-based soldiers are next to useless. By the time an invading fleet hits us; it's all over.

The Lance Corporal is currently in my care aboard the Missouri, pending recovery of a wound sustained in a skirmish with Rheinland Forces near the Texas jumpgate. I expect it will be at least two more days before he is ready for duty.
