I like.
Not really that 'scary' though.

Methinks that the 'scary' factions such as the Nomads, Phantoms and maybe these guys, should actually strike fear into people's hearts.
They shouldn't be a foe that someone willingly engages, they should be utterly terrorfying. The Phantoms are pretty much along these lines but have dropped in activity lately.

Honestly, I want to be able to look at my scanners and go 'Oh shi-' before running as fast as my little socks can take me.

Well, this is simply the explanation of who they are and how they were discovered. The RP that's going to precede them is going to be much more scary.

Ah good, I be looking forward to reading it:)

The general backstory is quite nice, including the idea of them being cut off too. I mean, if they had their entire empire to back them then it would be a massive invasion type thing that Sirius would face. This allows for the group to start relatively small and grow, along with the playerbase hopefully.

All in all, pretty good.

I like it. A lot.

As said, it needs more scariness, but even so, this has awesome potential for RP. Only concern I got is it's the 5th badguys-faction (yes, I know it isn't even a faction yet). Keepers, Wilde, Kusari Wilde, Phantoms, etc.

In any case, if properly executed, I think this has some awesome potential all in all. Go for it:P

...I might even end up joining one day if it does become a faction;)

Slow down?

For something as major as a fully new alien race, get Igiss to give a go-ahead on the idea at least, to be examined the RP of such later. I have no doubts of the quality of said RP, but between the various concerns presented here and all the new stuff Igiss is working on, it seems like the first step is to get an "alright, start writing and we'll see where this goes" before you spend all the time and effort of making the epic required to install such a thing in Sirius.

Please, while it might not be fun to have a remarkable idea floating around relatively unusable, consider how much worse it would be for you to write all of it and have Igiss say "Wait what the hell? No thanks."

Still applies.

If you want to cause terror, a whole slew of terrorists have cropped up (especially in Bretonia) and special ops/terrorist IDs are not nearly as rare as they used to be. I've also got something that's been in the works for a long time, although they're not really the "crash through the windows and paralyze everyone with fear" type.

I'm still not sure than a new set of aliens is what we need. We've already got the Nomads, C'tan, and then there's the Consortium (not... exactly... alien... sort of...). The Taus aren't as boring as they used to be now that mining works (by contrast, the Sigmas could use more activity- imagine that a year ago). While you have a lot of material, I'm not sure it will fit with Discovery. Kill-everyone types don't work, really... the Keepers and Das Wilde manipulate others to do their bidding and can draw support from the Outcasts (not to mention Spectre... which, er, doesn't exist, *uses MIB device*), the Consortium has tied themselves to the Kusari revolutionaries, the Phantoms are on good terms with the Outcasts and allowed harbor most anywhere, the Gallic Royal Navy have the Junkers (note: they are not aliens, but they are YAACS, Yet Another Army Conquering Sirius), the SCRA are friends with the entire Rheinland unlawful alliance, Mon'Star can dock on places that either respect his work or don't want to incur his wrath (which he doesn't inflict on them if they help him), Salazar Kithe even has those who will help him now and then. I could go on, but you get the idea. As evil and terrifying as these groups/people may be, there are places they can go for safe haven. There are people the can call on for support. Not just single people, but entire organizations that will harbor them.

The Bor'ei can't do that. They're more blunt than the Nomads. They're made to be an army, not a subtle force that destroys its enemies through coercion and support. Freelancer, and especially Discovery is all about that- without teamwork, you have nothing. If the Bor'ei will not negotiate with anyone, they don't fit into anywhere. They just kill everyone.

See were I'm going with this?

Terror is okay. A group that doesn't talk to people is not.

I'm more opposed to a group where the only interaction is "DIE" than I am to another group of aliens... although I'm not too keen on that either. If there was some clearer goal that they had here, or at least a method of communication they could use that some humans might negotiate with them, or even something that made them think that certain humans "weren't worth their time" that might be used to spur interaction that wasn't entirely gun-related, that'd be better. As it stands, however much RP there is behind them, there is only gunfire in front of them.

I'm sorry for the lack of reply, Sovereign. I didn't notice your post until just now, my mistake.

People have told me before that there are way too many "evil" factions within Discovery already. However, they're rarely on anymore. True, more than they used to be (Speaking of Phantoms and Keepers) however, I don't see Mon'star, or any of the other creepies hanging around anymore. Then again, maybe I'm just not looking hard enough. And I am taking this slow. It's not like I'm pushing agressively to get it made into an official faction. I'm simply posting this up here, again as I said before, to get an insight from other people on the forums. At this point, it's about half in half, but I'm still not giving up.

As for your concern for the faction (if begun) being a "zomg kill all" faction, it is noted. However, that's not the goal of the Bor'ei as you call it. They eat humans for sustenance, for survival, but they're not greedy with it. They still have the Kyoko'vash in storage for food, but they will have run out within a few years, which is why they are beginning to venture back out into Sirius yet again after the "cover up" by the IMG prior to the faction being made (or restructured) by someone on the forums (Hoodlum I think).

The Bor'ei are slowly learning the human language. They have the ability to speak it, but are being forced to listen to human comm's to learn the language. They also speak in their own language, as can be seen in the beginning post. I have an entire dictionary of their language, several pages in Word with a lot of common use english words that I'm working on finding. (EvolvedOne's forums are no longer avaliable).

So please, remember, The Bor'ei will not be a PvP whoring faction. If welcomed, they will be a RP giant (as I'm the leader, you should expect nothing else), and will add a new kind of fear onto the server. Also, I know there are a lot of other kill all factions, but they're not nearly as active as they used to be.

More info will be posted as I manage to find it laying around on the internet or on my backups of my old computers. Until then, however, I'm stuck searching through gigabytes of files.

~Leo

P.S. ...and I have just sent a PM to Igiss concerning the RP and story. If it continues on from this point is entirely in his hands and opinions.

I really like what I've read here, and I think this has a lot of potential.

Should it be implemented and become a part of Discovery I would be interested in seeing how it plays out, as well as how they interact with normal human factions, as well as groups like the Phantoms.

I think it'd be fun to see, and I wish you luck with this.

Glad Leo posted this actually.

A while back I was attempting to make the exact same thing, though failed at explaining it.
