Just to break this arguing a bit, I have met you folks in O7 on my RFP| and since I get to monitor the system on behalf of RFP I'd just like to say good luck and I am looking forward to a long and fruitfull co-operation between us...

I think you are severely misjudging the poignance of your questions, with all due respect.

Personally I believe that ODF becoming part of [RM] might cause more trouble than good - for both factions. It could create division and discord at a time where none of us need it - we are starting out, and they are going through leadership change, so it seems like a recipe for disaster. Who knows what happens down the line, maybe [RM] will approach us, maybe we will fly alongside each other and have fun and feel inclined to join up, who knows? But forcing this at this point just to make you happy seems like a really bad move. For us, and for [RM].

I'm in it for the roleplay and PVP, and I am well happy to see ODF around because that means I can also fight them on my Corsair. Double the fun for me. Miners, CAU8 and whatnot; I really don't care about that besides from the fact that it is my character's duty to protect them.

I think you have your mind set on this being a cap- or pvpwhore faction only being after blues and helping silent miners get into CAU8 Turtles; but that's really not the case. I wish you would let go of any and all assumptions, because critique is really a positive force when it is delivered free of bias and half-baked assumptions.

Also don't judge the faction on the basis of the discussion between you and I - I am merely a grunt (and shouldn't be posting really), and I hope and think you will find that we are all quite nice chaps in-game.

My interactions with the ODF have been good, the roleplay was what I expected of a patrol wing and the play inside the squadron (giving and receiving orders, reporting findings, etc) were above average by quite a bit.

I can't care less about choice of ships or whether they field a cap or not, as long as they offer something and contribute something to a scenario. And that's what they do, definitely.

Keep up the good work. Hope your irp enemies also return to the Omegas, so that there is some pew-ing interaction as well. (note to myself: log my Sair more)

questions do not carry poignancy of themselves, but totally willing to leave the existential semantics out of faction thread Big Grin. As I was unaware of the RM's internal issues, setting up an alternative agency actually seems the smart thing to do. I apologise for the trial-by-fire: you have actually answered all of the questions to my satisfaction - it seems to me that the faction intent is to portray a lawful presence in the omegas, and not the cap-heavy miner support faction that I was afraid of - overpowering the enemy is a good thing in RL (you don't have to kill so many of the other army if you can persuade some to surrender), but in terms of gameplay, a cap heavy faction would be the mobile equivalent of building POBs at the mining point - the interaction would die down and the faction would lose it's reason to exist - like the mollies' activity suffered after the armistice.

on a side note - are the RFP still active? because imho militaries fight wars, and police and militaries fight terrorists, but police fight crime and provide VIPs with escorts, etc., which seems to be the role that you are outlining for yourselves. is the faction available?

Actually, when I think about it, we're sort of using Battleship Karlsruhe in Stuttgart and sometimes Battleship Schwerin in Omega-7 as battleship - mostly to end and start patrols at it and doing the debriefing there.
Then we're having use of freighters (can be expanded to transports like behemoth later on, right now rather not since we intend to keep growing inRP, and more ships to use should be a part of it). Again, gunboats will be quite limited and rarely used.
And of course our focus on snubs.

Because you asked this question more than once in this thread, I take it as you don´t know where to find answer, so I will help you (despite I don´t think it is hard to find it).

As you can see in this subforum, RFP is still listed between existing official factions.

And as you can see in player faction activity counter, RFP has some activity (well, it of course depends on how you define "being active") and is available.

On a ragebreak. Or ragequit. Time will tell.

thank you laura. I'm well aware that there is a search function, and would like to confide in you a little secret. im lazy. I also wanted to find out from the ODF what their take on the RFP situation is, but mostly the reason is that I'm incorrigibly lazy. in fact, im not sure if i can even be bothered to finish this sent...

From what I should start...

It seems our members got bit upset Coin, but you were explained several times before why we decided to use not only naval shipline - it's part of our faction's roleplay.

I cannot understand this attitude that every new group must join existing faction - our roleplay and goals differ significantly from RM ones. If they weren't, we wouldn't make new faction but simply join [RM] or fly as indies.

Flotilla name issue:
easy guys, we just started few days ago, give us time, as we told we will expand. Yes, there will be caps in the faction. No, they won't be spammed. Why call it flotilla then? If we keep following by that logic, there are other similar factions with very few caps inRP which should be renamed - Red Hessian Army, Sirius Coalition Revolutionary Army...

Why RM, not RFP?
Because we want to be RM. We aren't police, we're navy guys, and inRP Omegas always were navy thing, there was no RFP in O11 and O7 in vanilla at all. Besides, in lore RFP is corrupted as hell, it's only slightly better than LPI. We aren't trade lane toll collectors, we're navy faction dedicated to trade protection and fighting pirates.

Why there's not Dresden and other systems in our ZoI?
Because we just started few days ago. Adding more systems to our ZoI, Dresden included, was planned from the beginning, but we want to roleplay out expanding our faction. Don't worry, we'll patrol around Altenburg yet.

ehhh, it's all cool with me. the fact that the RM is going through a leadership change means that the time is not yet ripe for the exploration of a more fully engaged role with them at present, and to be independent of their internal upheavals during the inauguration of their new leader is actually a very wise decision. Regarding the ship line, there is a fair number of precedents set for a cash-strapped navy 'commandeering' civilian vessels - I also approve of this piece of roleplay. I will freely admit that whilst i am a tech purist, i don't expect others to be the same; in fact, having a decent RP reason to fly a ship is more than acceptable for me. I hope that your endeavours in the field of inter-faction relations produce more amicable results in the future than they have of late, and look forward to shooting your rusty second-hand rejects down and pirating all the ore miners seeing you in space soon

You might have seen our ships online today, we're not gone yet. Most of us had RL things to deal with (work/uni), but we'll make a comeback soon.

Few things. Pavel resigned from 2iC position because of various reasons. I'm taking his position and try to be online at the weekends.

As for 1iC, Omicron volunteered for the job as an active member, since he can manage RP and in-game activity on daily basis.

More feedbacks are welcome.
