Some of you are going to hate me for what I'm going to say, but I honestly think it needs to be said:
According to police, Williams was found by his personal assistant clothed, in a seated position, with a belt around his neck, wedged between the closed closet door and the door frame. His right shoulder area was touching the door with his body perpendicular to the door and slightly suspended.
Just picture that in your head for a moment or two.
We can love his celebrity, gush about his talent, his effect on multiple generations & give seemingly heartfelt, but mostly empty platitudes of sympathy about his death...but simply take a moment for this suicide to let the actual reality of it sink in a little.
Celebrities snuff themselves all the time, & the sympathy made threads about them are all the same. Shallow & disconnected from the reality of it. Rich or poor, suicide & mental health is a VERY REAL problem in this world & most people (here included) like to turn a blind eye to it so they can parrot some stereotypical sense of 'respect for the dead'
While some of you choose to honor his death by watching a movie or two of his, the corpse that used to be robin williams is rotting on a slab.
I don't expect many of you to actually care about the reality of it all, even though I expect a few of you to feel offended for being called out as shallow for thinking that you actually care for the time being
My honest hope is that ultimately, because williams is such an uber celebrity, it could trigger a positive evolution in society by forcing an honest dialogue on mental health
But really...Who am I kidding besides myself? Williams will always be remembered, but easily forgotten in a month or two & just go down in history as simply another Hollywood suicide
I have friends that also suffer from severe depression, its a very serious problem and since you can't 'see' it on a scan like cancer, it usually goes unnoticed or just not taken very seriously.
I grew up on Robin Williams, like so many of us, and wish it could have gone down better for him in the end.
RIP Mr. Williams.

I don't see "RIP" threads for suicided teens who were harassed in school or students that got fed up with stress in university or rape victims. And you know what, they matter more, because they are just as regular as we are, the common folk that populate most of the earth.
I dont know them, why should I grief for them? I've watched movies and interviews with Williams, he is one of my favorite actors. You could say that his fans knew him and if that is so, it is up to us if we are going to grief for an actor we loved or for some kid with damaged psychic. Sorry but you comment is wrong.
