After talking over with Alley over skype, I think I need to reword the initial post.


I am not talking about DELETING servers. I am talking about MERGING them, existing progress included.

Removing spare servers and instead having two. A RP server and a PVP sandbox server.

well in any case if 2 servers merged into one it would benefit both communities.
Sad to say we might have to fix first to attitude of our community so we dont drive away even more people out of disco.
Its not like im making this stuff up you know.

How could one merge a dozen of different servers into two generalized and still be kind to their owners and players? It is obvious that some would need to make compromises, and I don't think they would be absolutely delighted about that.

Or is there a plan?

This thread shares the same flaw that has led to a lot of issues in the past, and even the creation of some of the same servers you've mentioned - People discuss what they consider problems in their closed circle of like-minded people, which naturally leads to a conclusion which the collective more or less agree to, and so thinking they're right they take action based on the assumption that what they came up with is the ultimate solution, while in reality no one outside that aforementioned circle has even been let into the discussion, and so no "opposing opinions" were taken into consideration.

With that in mind, if you really want to assess the impact of your suggestion on Discovery mod playerbase, it'd be best if you remake this thread in forums belonging to those other servers you're suggesting to be forcibly discontinued and merged with the official server, rather than a forum mainly intended for and mostly populated by players of the GC server, who obviously would love to see the player count boosted again.

I disagree. When people -want- a populated place, the natural place to go to is the official server for the mod. When people don't want that for any reason, trying to force them to go to the official server will just drive them from the game entirely.

Activity starved servers tend to die on their own. Eventually, this'll be the fate of DiscoGC as a mod as well.

Well said. I've seen the same deal with other servers in the past and they've been shut down.

Logically, in terms of numbers, you'd assume this is a good idea.
But it's such an unbelievable dick move. You're robbing them of their sweets and then spitting into their faces.
I don't think we need to lower ourselves to this in order to sustain ourselves.
