The facts are that capital ships in real life are used to project power, and they should be used to project power in FL. During war and sometimes just for "saber rattling" ships from one nation do enter the territories of ships from another nation.
As far as escorts, not everyone on the server can get escorts all the time, and that shouldn't be a limit to anyone enjoying the server. One player should be able to take his single ship anywhere RP allows, be it an LF or a BS.

Making caps more versatile will not affect the plethora of oorp capship PvP idiots who roam the systems like Dirty Harry on crack. They will always have to find the ultimate ship for winning in combat.
And here we go again with an overstated and largely made up issue.
' Wrote:This issue has nothing to do with factions at all. It has everything to do with a slight modification of the ships out there in favour of something that, from what Jinx says, is moving towards co-operative play. That's co-operative, not faction.
It has everything to do with factions. Indy players play alone much more often than factions, biasing ships toward greater effectiveness in groups beyond the normal advantage of numbers works far far far more in favor of faction players than indies, even if that isn't your goal.

Montgomery Al. in the late fifties is exactly the mindset of exclusive that the factions view indies with. The "back of the bus" attitude.

But the game mechanics favour small ship combat. Take the x series where automated turrets fire at several targets at once. FL doesn't work that way. Caps will always be somewhat at a disadvantage.
Well , I don't seem to see the problem in having many people use capital ships and making the ships themselves powerfull. There are rules to the server and if those rules are broken the person who broke them pays the price , depending on the rule. The 101st was also one of the inovators in requesting independants regester and creat a story for there ship in order to keep it. Aldo the idea was flamed alot , the perspective of it was clear and many people "got the message". Alpha is actually one of the RP heavy systems now and ( I dare say ) there are NO OoRP Outcast capital ships around. Many other player factions have folowed the 101st's example , thus redusing drasticly the number of people who have been found unfit to posses such a ship.In this way I say that there are more then enough ways to keep track of these ships and inform the authoroties of the ship's faction if it's commander is not fit to command his vessel. The last big problem with the so called "capital ship whoring" comes from the Bounty Hunters. They are the only NPC faction (since I think that there is no official BH faction) who are not restricting there capital ships , thus creating a chaotic substance that can tipple the Capital ships of other factions. Since Bounty Hunters have there RP based around atacks of almost every outlaw faction and since they lack control of there capital ship line , factions players that are under direct threat from them answer with there own capital ships or the much more efficient way of bombers. Realy , Battleships are indeed held to high role play standart these days. It has been some time (mounths) since I have seen OoRP Battleships , EXEPT BH Battleships , but I'm not counting them.
I agree with Jinx's idea and the fact that it has already been submitted to the new mod. Also , I never wanted to see BS's uber. But as they are at the moment , Battleships are nothing more then a quick laught after the debrees from them have cleared.

Actually caps don't need to be at a disadvantage, it's all in weaps. Caps have difficulty tracking fighters and the shake when unshielded hurts them but caps can be made into fighter killers pretty easily.
Ok for one thing.
VHF's SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO HURT ANYTHING BIGGER THAN A GUNBOAT.
Its extremely unrealistic. I agree with Akumabito, fighter killer capital ships are pretty easy to make, BUT it should be even easier. More fast firing fast traking auto-turret type things that dont shoot by themselves.
So its not limited to solaris and corsair fast-firing anti-fighter turrets.
Grimly's second post pretty much says all I want to say. I really don't see how you think bombers can own VHFs. I have no problems at all eating up bombers with my Stinger. It works fine as is. Bombers don't need a nerf, if they get one, they'll be ruined.
VHFs should not be able to touch anything above a GB. It just doesn't make sense to me. Sorry.
Doesn't matter anyways, the release is so close, I'm not sure what could be done here anyway.
Bombers should get a nerf. If they are supporting these huge powerplants they should handle far worse than a fighter does, instead of being about the same.
You know, Hull increases really dont help much. because your screen is shaking so crazy around on hull hits it doesnt matter how strong your hull is. A 10% increase in shield is like a 30% in hull.
I really like the idea of 3 VHFS and 2 bombers for a battleship. THAT is how it should be. Not TWO BOMBERS. I swear to god if two bombers can kill a battleship im outfitting me with ALL missle turrets. See how they fare with that?
