Racers going on the offensive? plz xd
yes. B|
And we are not just racers as I have told you for the thousandth time.
I used to have an arrow back a long time ago.. It was maneuverable as heck..
The only thing that would make the arrow any better would be a missile slot... make it so that you could shoot guns, or a missile, but not both at the same time.. just make it so you cant shoot all 3 weapons at once..
The secret with LFs is that you have to better situational awareness than most people... one little mistake and a LF is very unforgiving.

Never mind, wiki says it comes with a missile slot now

Most light fighters can use the CD slot for a missile, so for the Arrow you'd have to decide if you want a missile or cruise disruptor next to your two guns.

Hmmm rather have a missile than a cd... both would be nice... it would make it deadly at that point
I'm wondering what was wrong with Light Fighters that they needed a change back in .85/.86. Before the change in .86 they were a bit overpowered but someone skilled could still kill them. And in .86 when they were turned into 2.00 refire shotguns, that felt like it worked as well, but maybe too much firepower. Now it's just weird, their guns are different but not really.
LFs were fine without ridiculous dps guns or other stupid gimmicks. They aren't useless just because you don't like flying them. The only reason they keep going through dumb changes in the first place is because people who are completely clueless about their appeal felt the need to mess with them.

To all who think giving them more core is the solution - have you seen the light fighter guns? Have you compared their damage to the HF/VHF version? They do around 15% more damage per gun. Imagine we buffed their core - they could shoot for the similar amount of time as the HFs and VHFs, but do more damage and be more survivable in the meantime. That wouldn't go well. The way to balance them if you want 'em to become the same class as HFs and VHFs is by resizing the very small ones and nerfing all of their turn speed drastically, and then buffing core.
Or as an alternative making them into a complete utility group, like potentially having a triple CD mount or special pulses for draining core from enemy ships and increased thrust/cruise speed. But as Spazzy mentioned, support ships are never used (i.e. Repair Ship) so I don't know how'd that work.

Oooh I like this idea....
Also, they make good little birds to go in and target individual items on cap ships, like turrets and damaging engines...
