And what about running up to someone and scanning them and then saying... OMG NOMAD!
You would think that not your every day citizen would be able to do that, Navy, RM, LSF, etc would have scanners to detect such things...
RP-wise I would venture that Ageira's scanning system DID not upload any Nomadic Material.
And yes you could scan people in SP and it was Nomad Prototype's but I would think thats flavor...
So if you ran across some Order vessel hauling Nomads or something...
It would more appear as "UNIDENTIFIED WEAPON"

' Wrote:Player-wise, as you noted, absolute majority played SP, hence they know what happened, again, player-wise, except that not everyone here is Trent Edison or any of his companions. Amount of what your character know, not you personally as a player, would depend on other factors, such but limited to like relevance the character had to the events of SP campaign. Naturally average joe sixpack would have a very limited knowledge, like knowing there are things out there, overheard something at some point, but where they are coming from or what they are really, some of those questions not even the Order can answer without falling into hypothesis and theories. "Impression"... like saying "I'm not impressed by SP campaign", to each own I'd reply then and keep walking as I were. Inaccurate wording I suppose, hence missed the point of what you actually was trying to say.
I meant, in roleplay, everyone seems to know of the nomads very well.

Arguable, but I've expressed my personal opinion already above. That knowledge varies to a high degree depending on the faction your character belongs to, how much exposure to them the character had, however in any way, the mere exposure time does not automatically grants the knowledge alone, it's not a background experience grinding like in EvE really. Nor does the faction tag, say for example if you (not you specifically, just any) tag yourself Order but all your knowledge is limited to two words: "blue squishes", then you're a fool really, both as a character and as a player for taking a role that you haven't researched well before trying. If you don't know much about them neither would your character do actually, after all you are still the puppeteer, no matter if you proclaim him/her a top class scientist specializing in Nomads. So the question is more about: are there advanced sentient lifeforms other than humans? Definitely there are. But question "what are they then", now that is a totally different and individual to each one story.
that's pretty much the problem. I've seen a lot more of fool, than actual people trying to role play seriously with the nomad.
Generally, it doesn't seems as if they take the nomads too seriously. Again, arguable, but thats what I've witnessed so far.

That's where I hope 4.85 will help with the situation. Doubtful to fix it entirely, that's just impossible, but at least to make things better to a degree, giving both actual material to research with docs as well as having in-game hints towards their future. Will that work though? Remains to be seen... I sincerely hope, for what it's worth I'd give it a try. Because I believe sitting still, ranting on boards, criticizing but actually doing nothing constructive will not solve anything. If only more people being active on this board would realize this sooner before it's too late to do anything.

Am I? Not at all. This is more of a rhetorical notice not aimed at anyone specifically, but just expressing my concern with the latest tendencies as observed on the board generally, not this thread but overall. In short: too much ranting lately. Which makes me a sad panda. So it's more like stating my individual beliefs as regards gaming and roleplay views as a person.
