Its not like you loose all you earned with a PoB when it gets sieged, normally you made billions over billions out of it before anything happens, or havent invested too much in it.
Dont try to make PoBs look like they arent worth it even when they are eventually sieged.
And attackers have to buy battleships to siege a base, since such loads are needed to do anything a normal faction doesnt even have them.

Now with POBs, grieving is extremely powerful with the great value and risk of owning a POB and no risk to its attackers.

When you build the POB you accept the risks, aren't you?

From an outsiders perspective, I have neither owned a POB or participated in a seige.

I have, however, seen at least one POB destruction message every 3rd time I log on. The frequency at which these things are being trounced is slightly concerning, considering how much time and energy they take to construct and maintain.

Honestly, this whole thing feels like Platinum Miners vs. 20-Mil-R-Dai Pirates all over again. Except THIS time the player being extorted cannot escape and are being held hostage.

If your faction is known for being brutal, ok. Fine. I get a certain extent of brutality exists in-RP. However, ooRP being an excessive jerk because "my faction is a bunch of a-holes" is biting the hand that feeds. And we've seen where this mentality eventually leads. Just ask the Phantoms.

Blow up enough POBs in your ZOI enough times with minimal RP excuses, and players simply won't build bases in your region anymore. They will find more friendly areas and re-build there, assuming they don't ragequit first. Congrats, you just killed an active region and/or decreased the server population.

I don't want POBs to be invincible. They should be vulnerable. They should encourage RP. But using RP to cover up greifing? That needs to stop.

Sometimes bases die due to not being supplied, don't be unsettled.

EDIT: If you've ever participated in a base siege, you will know that it sucks big-time and isn't something you do for fun as it is simply put the exact opposite of fun. The idea that some evil-doers are rolling around with a big grin on their faces shooting up base after base and having a really good time is pretty far off the mark, if you've actually tried siegeing a base. Let me just reiterate: It sucks. Big time.

Well. I'm torn. I can't say I like the way this siege was announced, I don't like it at all, but on the other... I don't like the base. I mean... sure, it might be built BEFORE the current rule change, but the fact the base is cancer is still there.

MOVE THE BASE AND BE DONE WITH IT!

@Mímir(1): I'm sure the people that objectively read your statements find your lack of shame... disturbing. Your avatar says it all ("I'm only here for the drama"). If you enjoy drama, perhaps you can ask people to vote on who they really think is trolling between me and you?

@Mímir(2): Do you think POB grievers can really convince everyone that most of the time they are doing the community a favor? Saying "it's not fun" is pathetically hypocritical.

@Gagadug.: When you buy a capital (or whatever class of) ship, and it blows up, you lose nothing except spare change in the hundreds, usually less than 5 million credits. Not comparable to the billions of credits, time and real RP lost when a base is destroyed (permanent damage). Your point is moot.

@"Sanja": The fact that something "is possible to do" doesn't mean that it is right or fair to do. One of the aims of this thread is to adjust the possibilities to provide a similar risk to attackers than to defenders. It is possible to destroy bases just for fun with lame RP excuses. It is possible to cheat. Risk acceptance? Come on.

@Demonic: I guess this applies to the specific case of the latest announced siege of the Kruger base by RHA.

I would appreciate if no more attempts to derail this thread were made, and I hope that malicious posters (that want to derail this thread, insult, and troll so that it gets closed) are not supported by moderators.

More ideas and alternative solutions can be provided. Many people are reading this and discussing properly. Thanks to everyone who has posted in good will. : )

I don't see why the admins would have to intervene in this. All now illegal by rules POBs were offered a free relocation to fit the new POB rules, and that was, like, maybe more than a year ago.
The downside of this illegal situation is that Kruger can't request core upgrades, which isn't an issue for them as they've already hit the current core limit.

Kruger still has the ability to request that one time within the rules relocation. Whether or not they use it is up to them. It will not prevent the game from doing its own job though.

@Alley I'm not necessarly asking Admins to do that. I'm just pointing out that if Kruger asked for relocation as now I know thay can, there is a high chance the siege would be called of and new, more reasonable terms might be given. But I fear Kruger simply wants their against the rules Core 5 Area Denial base in that field no matter what, and the siege is inevitable.

Seriously guys, is it too much to ask? Does someone need to make a new thread specifically to address this Kruger base?

This thread is meant to find a solution to POB griefing in general. Keep derailing it, and you're becoming part of the problem.

Also, I'm seeing a pretty volatile discussion in the RHA thread and I am not posting, as proof that it is all about the bigger picture. Considering 80% of my thread's antagonists are RHA-associated, and that I personally gain nothing from discussing this except apparently the disliking of a very organized and internally loyal group, why do the malicious posters keep ignoring that?

I know, because... malicious, y'know?

Still welcoming more ideas, alternate solutions, and good intentions.
