One must remember this is a game on a Role Play server, and the goal of it is not getting the kill by any way possible. The goal of this game and this server is to have fun, and ensure others around you are having fun. In the last few weeks, and i would even say longer that was not the case. OC-Corsair war was about revenge killings, totally raping your enemies in quickest way possible, bragging about those raids where one would take a cap fleet against few fighters, and so on. It is not fun facing swarms of missile packed capital ships on your fighter, for any side. Fair play lost meaning over time. Players actually left because of that, and that should not happen.
Factions as well as indies are to blame, and starting from factions things need to change.

Also if restricting indies in a small way means majority, both indies and faction members will have a better time, will enjoy being on their chars, or in general have more fun, then so be it. Factions are already restricted, remember that.

One must also remember not to hit Add Reply if his post has nothing to do with a thread, has nothing intelligent in it or just serves to increase ones post count.

You know what would cut this sort of cap-rape down somewhat?
Torpedo/CD Wep Platforms.

Fighters, Bombers, maybe even Gunboats could AfterBurn away and dodge the Torps with ease. Cap Ships would get killed or at least badly damaged brefore they get to go hunting.
Also Torp/CD platforms sounds alot like a planetary defence system *wink* *wink*

i must admit, when i was a corsair all i got was around 3 drednaughts chasing me everywhere

I know cap-swarm took many good fighters both in Titans and Sabres. Once again, I think everything bigger than VHF should be earned by rank. Think about RP, if Outcast had so many big ships, wouldn't Manhattan be orange? As for Corsairs, Rheinland and Kusari wouldn't exist. Infact, we (both sides) are rather poor House(s). Outcasts can't colonize anything (at the moment) and Corsairs still have the food problem.
And with so many medical experiments on Malta and solving food problem on Crete, why would anyone consider building such fleet?

That's my argument against big raids.

I completely agree with my crazy penguin friend here.
/no intention to brag but:
We at CR fly only fighters, and gunboats are earned only after a second promotion, which takes time, effort, and a good deal of proving oneself's worth. I for one, with trying a lot, got to be a lieutenant after two and change months of playing. And it only makes me more ready for flying a cap, although I still prefer a VHF. It really puts things into perspective, when I got it, I really felt like I earned it, and I fly it with pride. The problem with this theory however are the indies. It's hard to restrict caps to them, since they are just that, independent. So they don't take orders.
And on the other hand, I think that all factions should enforce at least some measure of containing capital ships, and indeed the best method for it would be restricting it to ranks, no exceptions..

GoodDay comrades,

Well, i havent a Outcast nor a Sairs character yet, but what Jihad mentioned isnt just a problem of Outcasts and Sairs.
There shall be a restriction from Factions side how Capital ships should be used and where they can go and what they can then do there.

Not that Capital ships wont be sold to independants anymore, it is not about that. But Independants, in my eye even when commanding a Battleship class ship are at a lower rank as the others of the Player-Faction.
F.E: Someone buys a Bretonian Destroyer, so he would be under command of a BAF officer when this is online.
If both sides work together with respect for each other (means the faction players dont let the Indies die out of boredom or cause they were ignored, and give them work to do, as they as Faction players know how it goes / and the Indy players shall listen and try to follow orders of the Player-Factions).
Faction-player threat Indies like their own kind and Indies shall try not to hate the Factions so much --> yea, it is still out there, that people going to dislike the factions for their restrictions; dont know why, as this server has a RP in name) That way, all can have fun while online.

And PLEASE, PLEASE to all the Player-Factions out there; i have seen that happen to myself so; when you see a Indy-Cap, PLEASE dont force them with your FIRST encounter to tell you the Heck of a Story to their ship and crew and pressing them into register their ship with a full background.
Some people are good at Ingame-RP, but suck at writing even short essays; so why dont just take them ingame as they are and roleplay with them; see what they got and how they will play and react; give them hints and 'encourage' them to write a story by giving fe. ideas or possibilities how it can look like; and go out with them and let them play their way into the role they have choosen.
A registration of a ship could also be done afterwards.
But what is, fe. if some player registred his ship, have a well written story and a positive feedback on that from the Player-Faction and then, when you meet him ingame, you see, that he got a totally wrong idea of how things shall go on then??

To those 4 per day Raids - well - I was when staring with Discovery also one of those 'really cheap' Hunter capwhores, raiding Gamma nearly every day with a small fleet of Caps; and we moved into Alpha after we loosed agaisnt the Sairs.
Those days have been fun for me and some of my comrades, but I didnt though bout the others in this times.
Now things changed. I dont have the hunter character anymore, but will maybe get one again.
Raids are okay, if both sides get informed before the fight takes places, so fe. the Hunters may write to an Sairs to give them a chance to prepare themselves.

AND: You may believe it or not, but; when asking about a Fight and getting a 'Yes' in response, the fights will be far more fair as when fe. the Hunters just jump into Gamma to face one Legate after the next undocking, cause Sairs just want to take them down to have then their own game again.

Other thing is, what I have learned during all the Raids against Gamma; there isnt really a chance of kicking the Sairs ass there; i mean, you can bring half of the server, if only a third of the Sairs is online, they can bring a Capship fleet able to engage and probably defeat even most house military forces or the Hunters(when it comes down to a Capship-standoff).

Two other things: they surely dont have to be said here, but hey, iam on it right now, so...
- REMOVE the Kappa Jumphole from Gamma PLEASE and locate it in THETA.
- Think about that: As long as Sairs will go 'Oh look, a Hunter, lets go pwn him', the Hunter will probably respond like 'Oh look, a Sairs, he will surely try to pwn us; lets pewpew and then look after his friends at their homeworld, he' (no joke, saw such events happen far too often when iam moving through the Omegas)

Aye, and when the outgoing of those capships is really such an annoyance, then why not declare them hostile and attack them each time you see them untill they changed their behaviour?

Twist.

Two things can happen.

1. Factions can try to restrict capital ships to independents that prove themselves. Capspam goes down, everyone has more fun in fights, etc. Only drawback is some people don't get the 'fun and freedom' of Freelancer. But hey, if you're not a Freelancer, why should you be free?

2. Factions do nothing, capspam gets outta control, everyone gets peeved, they come to the forums, and we flame til the internet burns and the community falls apart.

Yeah. I'm pro-indy in most cases myself, and have way more independent characters than factionalized now. But I must admit, in this case faction intervention is the lesser of two evils, so to speak.

In my personal opinion fleet of capital ships bigger than combo 2 cruisers 2 gunboats or 1 bs 2 gunboats is overpowered crap and OORP. I saw it many times when outcasts camed to save loosing BAFs with fleet bigger than NPC fleets (stationar ships, not those floating added by mod) of Liberty and Rheinland togeather to face 3 chimaeras;)

Those encounters rise in me my anticap confessions. I hope new IDs solve this problem.

OOC: hey i completely agree, im luis benitez of he corsairs, and alot of us are getting sick of it, ive been told that the corsair indies have been raiding alpha with caps qutie alot too, which i personally have told them either pack it in or ill have the council exile you, its simply not fun for either parties too get cap spammed, and i completely agree with what you're saying, when i go for a raid i bring fighters bombers and 1 GB incase of the cruiser etc, when we come raiding i normally try too ask you guys if you wana a little fighters and bombers VS fighters and bomber etc, or if its ok too have a fun raid, but sometimes i dont see many online, but yeah like i said...
Its not fun for either parties too be cap spammed, we're here too have fun, not torment each others by bringing BS's and cruisers too become PVP whores, its a RP server, Lets start RPing?
