only coz' of BLOODY NOC CD SPAMMERS GRRRRR
they ENRAGE ME!!!

so i'm in my RFP char chasing a smuggler, 5 unioners appear out of nowhere and disrupt me, i try to continue the chasr but it seems they have 500CD's each! per group there should only be 1 CD, PER GROUP! so there are 3 ships in a grouo, 2 hawks and an eagle, only the eagle has 1 CD or better yet just get rid of every NPC CD in the game

i agree with jake about general guns and buff, they shoud not be nerfed all together,

and theyre regens should be halved

Lowering the re-fire rate on those NPC Pulse Cannons/Razors would be nice to compensate for the fact that they have no powerplant limitations at all, I don't care if they're there just so long as they're not spamming them beyond what people can normally do.

Other than that, I've not taken on fighters much, but I notice they still do the one shield battery at a time thing ( Which is as annoying as it was, if not more so) and I've noticed a few NPCs in Omicron-85 packing Infernos ( Though it's a guard system, and they won't spawn when there're lots of people anyway).

As Davor said, some Cruiser/Desi/Dreadnaut patrols in Alpha ( At Malta, not at Ibiza...), Eta and Tau-37( maybe), and maybe another dockable Dreadnaut or a Battleship? The Mollies and Rogues have a dockable Destroyer. The Corsairs have... err, 3 dockable Battleships? The Fes, the ones in 94 and 91 (Proxy or whatever).

Since when do the Outcasts in RP have that many caps as to have regular patrols all over the place? Cap patrols are reserved for houses, imo, same as having jumpgates and what not.

Cap patrols in Tau 37'd be a very big no-no. I'm sure you understand why.
And we could just as easily request a stationary Zephyr guarding the entrance to Falkland's cloud and the jumphole to Tau 23, doesn't mean we're gonna get it or that it's right.

( Don't take this personal, I'm just making sure to give my opinion;))

Remove bomber patrols outside of guard systems, or slash the refire rate of their supernova's. 880k armour dissolves quite quickly when you've got bombers with infinite powerplants..

Apart from that, I've got very little to complain about with the NPC's. Missions with NPC caps actually require you to use your brains now, rather than charge in guns blazing, blasting them all, which will now get you killed. NPC's largely force you to make tactical decisions, and really affect the outcome of a battle (particularly small skirmishes) rather than being a sideshow.

Yes, it does.
Ever notice that when you play a game with a single player campaign, whether it be RTS, FPS, Racing, or whatever, you always play as the hero? It's not really as much fun if you don't play as a hero...

Well, talk to Derk, he brought it up and I added it.

' Wrote:Exactly which NPCs (faction) and where. Else even if 95% of Discovery signs this petition, it will be useless.

All NPCs, everywhere.

' Wrote:Only place I can see this happening is Omicron Gamma or Delta, even there the "top" number is about 12.

Again, talk to Derk.

' Wrote:Ok got it, Grenoble depot has too many GRN NPCs, will check them out, thanks.
Welcome.

' Wrote:This is not very concrete....afaik a transport is not in "danger" from NPCs as long as it follows TLs. Even in gallia it has weapon platforms to protect him.

All I know is, I was gang-raped by a pack of Bundies, LWB, Unioners and Hessians from the Bonn Station -> Stuttgart JG lane. They shot the crap out of my shield, rammed the living daylights out of my ship sending it all topsy-turvy, and generally made me want to smash their cockpit windshields in with a hammer.

' Wrote:This part is exactly the same as in vanilla, only that they use bats/bots ever now and then. Maybe a reason why there are ton of other "starter" ship in pennsylvania?

Maybe someone's setting up and doesn't want the bother of picking the right ship to go down one tradelane.

' Wrote:TO me they add to RP. If I park my Kusari dessie above Leeds, I could laugh at BAF fighters/bombers forever if they don't get proper numbers. Now I have to be very careful that the BS patrols wont blast me. Similar examples are found ton of other places.

Suppose, then, you're parked in your Kusari dessie above Leeds, having some enjoyable banter with a BAF, when a BS patrol comes and blasts you to Kingdom Come. That's a RP-killer if ever there was one.

' Wrote:NPCs are not "background" either. As global said it wasn't really nice "RP" and helped "enjoyment" if you saw BHG BS in front of Crete and 15 titans couldn't even move its shield.

This is why we have base defences now.

' Wrote:If you think they are "equal" to players... then you must have been meeting some very bad players recently.

That's a problem yes, over the past few days I have seen the most useless pilots fly caps or other ship in relatively "hard" locations.

Y'know, some of us are actually not very good pilots. I, personally, stink. You cannot determine the difficulty of NPCs based on the best pilots on the server, because then those of us who enjoy RP but are terrible fighters will suffer.

' Wrote:"Difficulty" of different areas of sirius is split into different steps and has been so since vanilla. There's always a rather large area for anyone to play in.

Fine. Then nerf the NPCs, keeping the relative difficulties.

Signing this on partial agreement as well..

The NPC's around home planets (ex: Battleship patrols outside Manhattan and the like) should not be nerfed. The NPC's that ruin your day by barging in on Role Play situations, like one's in the omicrons, should definitely be nerfed. They always cause havoc in situations that involves Role Play, for instance, when a pirate stops a trader, then nothing short of 10 NPC Sabres/Titans/Eagles/Whatever ship it may be show up and start "pew-pew'ing" the trader to bits, forcing the trader to run, which in turn gets them killed by the player controlled pirate. Rediculous I say! This madness must end!

Don't have anything in paticular to add that ain't already here, but those NPC's bombers in Gallia can seriously r*p* traders who are carrying just 1 unit of contraband

I've got a major beef with lv 19 Outcasts - all packing infernoes. It's sheer murder on anything bigger then a bomber.

Eta mainly because there're Osiris patrols, ( According to others, I've not sat in Eta much personally). Alpha because... well, Gamma has them ( again, aparently, not seen any because I never sit in Gamma) and so does every other house's capital ( Duno about Gallia... not been there yet), I don't see why there're Destroyers at Ibiza but none at Malta. There're also plenty of Corsair Osirises in Delta ( Yes I've seen one). Tau-37, well, I didn't mean tonnes of anything, just the ocassional Destroyer/ Gunboat if you're at the Alpha jumphole or near to it.

Dockable caps... well, again, because there're plenty of examples of other factions with dockable capital ships that're smaller than the Outcasts.

As for Outcast NPCs packing Infernos, I've only seen those in Omicron 85, others I've seen've had Train CDs.

EDIT: I'll agree with what Mike says in the next post,

I'd have to disagree there. The 'lawfull houses' might tag the Hispanics (Outcast, Corsairs) as criminals, but they still have their own planet, capital ships, war ships and fleets, shipyards and way of living. Probaply their whole own society too, kids, schooling, ect ect. So, can you still tag that as 'Non-house criminals'? If you ask me, the 'Sairs and 'casts are each a house in their own way. Way above the common Pierat you have going 'halt!' in your face.

In RP that is. Practice is sometimes somewhat...Less clever.
