Its true, while the LN does not have a lot of liquid last I checked, that shortfall is offset by the assets under our control. Our cap list is -quite big-, though a lot of those ships are privately owned and maintained. That said, LN finances were looking just a little tight before Seth decided to donate his Dreadnought, which has since become the Maryland. We're also struggling to pay for the remade Mount Hood, which Joe is working at with the LLS rather than asking people for donations to the LN. The main donations to the LN come from only a few people though, at most 10% of the roster.

I dont know how you can assume to know the monetary status of each of the four largest house factions though. For instance, how much is on our LN Vault account?

I dont think unnofficial factions come into this argument though. You're unofficial because you dont want the responsibilities that heap on to the shoulders of those who are official, mostly the bitching about indies flying under your flag. Diplomatic transmissions about indies seriously get on my nerves, as its the official factions that get blamed for not reeling them in when those official factions have very little power to do anything if the indies prove to be non-receptive (short of blowing them off the map, of course).

But the point is here, factions will not be paid to do nothing. Good examples have to be set, rules adhered to, activity noted and so on.

Firstly, this was mainly to be PASSED ON TO THE PLAYERS! Not for the official factions to sit on.

Secondly:

Yeah, I kinda nipped back in and stole it... *Whistles innocently*

I think money should be handed out to certain factions for RP events.

And that money should be regulated in use if applicable by a chosen administrator.

Such as the following, after an intense RP say the Liberty Navy hires the Mandalorians as much as the USA does Blackwater Security and etc for things...

Obviously it would kinda suck for the LN to go off and trade themselves off in order to pay the Mandalorian's every week or month or something for this...

And it wouldn't be as nice if they just did it for imaginary money.

Perhaps having the administrator's approve of such a deal and provide a funding for the Mandalorian's in the Navy's stead would be better?

It would allow alot more RP to open up.

Or perhaps after more roleplay say BMM take back a part of the Tau's and get a large vast bonus for access to more mining operations or such.

Giving some incentive would be fun.
Faith without works is dead, as is RP without reward.

Just the same, currently there are very few "offical" factions with a high enough activity to warrent even considering this. Frankly, i dont even REMEMBER last time i saw a KNF offical. Same with a BAF. LN, one, RM, one. in the last MONTH. now i know its not just me. So tell me, who should get these handouts if they happen, the "offical" factions with activity equal to a sloth?

<Set logic 1>

If:

Join faction, learn rules, meet players, learn RP = Win.

And:

$$$ as incentive to Join faction, learn rules, meet players, learn RP = Win

Then:

Getting newbies to the forums and into factions as a foundation for future RP and player interaction = Win.

Read rules + write test = get $$$ = incentive = Win.

Knowledge of rules, Rp and other players = Informed Indies.

Informed Indies = Interesting Indy RP = Win.

Therefore:

Empower factions with $$$ to incentivize RP = Win.

Quite hard to incentive rp when you dont log on. Point stands, low activity as is, will certainly not improve with this, nor will this help RP. You want to help RP? lets give the offical factions the right to revoke player capitals above cruiser.

Problem with negative power like this is that the power to 'taketh away' can only be in the hands of mature, respected leadership. Things can get very nasty when an Indy loses a ship for mere lack of opinion...

The power to 'giveth' is a principle of seed sowing. Seed capital is never bad... giving factions this kind of power brings much more players into their ranks and counters the inactivity trend.
Inactivity is usually the result of dwindled vision which is usually the result of dwindled enthusiasm which is usually the result of dwindled incentive...

I voted no, since I believe faction players are just an organized group of players. Just like independent players, but independents do not group up officially.

If factions get money, give me some too. Only fair. (I don't mean to sound harsh, don't put that tone in your mind;) )

Factions, especially official ones, have accountability, Fletcher. That's the main thing really in that sense.

Anyway I don't really mind either way. Give me money if you want.

True, yes there is accountability and organizing to do in factions. But I just don't think it justifies free money.

But I sympathise that factions have a fair amount of their own work to do.
