take screenies of the conversation, take screenies of the transfer of credits (use 'trade/u' button), and then you're covered.
if they start shooting, yell out in system chat your location, and start shooting back.
buy an armour upgrade, and some fast shooting turrets, and start putting holes in him

and then post the screenies, and let cannon do his stuff
