Insert Ench's signature picture here.

I think Sprolf is pretty cool guy. Eh makes wild accusations and doesn't back them up with hard facts or solid reasoning.

Let us recap before I go to bed.

Me: the LPI are corrupt but stamping it out as far as taking bribes are concerned. Selling slaves is anathema to the LPI at large, and definitely has NO PLACE on Sugarland, as it doesn't even have the inmate population to support it. Furthermore, selling criminals away that we could re-use makes no sense.

You: the LPI are pretty much a bunch of corrupt bastards that'll do anything to make credits, including getting into the slave game. The prison stations are the pinnacle of that corruption and the LPI's practices regarding such stamp them as inherently evil.

I will make one last point:

Quote:If you take lore literally, it's quite a corrupt police force.
Your prison system is solid proof of that. They're factories.
The LPI brings people in to work, rather than on legitimate charges.

I do indeed take that lore literally. The prison system is indeed a bunch of glorified factories. There are indeed legitimate charges. Trumped up charges. Legitimate though. Vagrancy, loitering, especially if you can establish ill-intent. Who's to say there aren't laws on planets against panhandling?

Besides, we're talking about largely homeless and out-of-work people here. I doubt very highly that any of the middleclass on Houston find themselves "rounded up". Putting them to work is merely pushing our economy towards the ideal GDP output that is possible at full employment. Also what Connor said about assuming they're all innocent.

Of course, US prisons can also be both privately owned and in essence factories. The old cliche that license plates come from prisons? That ring a bell?

White knights? Hardly. More like idealists. Things work best when the Police aren't crooked, and that's what the folks in charge have seen.

Good night.

I'm really not seeing anything wrong with a bit of corruption in the LPI. I'm not so sure about running a slave mill factory but a little bit of bribery never hurt anyone.

Emphasis on "a bit of corruption". Not "We sell more slaves to junkers in 4.3k slave liners per day than we have total population and we make a fortune off it".

Among other crappy things...

Retired, permanently.

With respect, those days are over. Nowadays, anyone (character) caught taking bribes are immediately fired from the LPI. That person has to make a new character at that point, and if they don't want to see their characters constantly being sent to prison, they stop taking the bribes. I imagine if that person was hell-bent on sullying the LPI's image with consistent bribe-taking they'd eventually be kicked out of the faction altogether.

With Respect.

If you expected to be treated like every othere faction, that would imply that subfactions and non factions should be traeated the same ..... Life lesson LIFES NOT FAIR get over it guys if life was fair then this would all be communist.... which some of sirus is..... but by no means does this mean you can be treated like evryone else... everyone knows that every faction is slightly corrupt....

To be honest it might be fun to play the LPI in the old fashion with this new environment.

Frankly I got bored after I rant the umpteenth run of Cardamine to Manhattan as evidence amidst bored officers.

No, you play the role that canon (both Vanilla and Discovery-added) has defined for your faction. Within that role there is room for some individuality, i.e. corrupt cop/straight shooter. But the guidelines are not set by the faction, they are set by pre-established Lore, that the faction follows. In some cases the faction can help develop the Lore, but the Lore is the 'operating manual' for the faction, which should not be deviated from.
