Nathan continued firing at the BPA. The battle would soon be coming to an end. Nathan knew it. He didn't have the reinforcements or ammunition to hold out longer. Luckily the officers swarmed around a fallen comrade, slightly lessening the fire. He must be one of their higher ups, Nathan thought. It made a good distraction to begin the next stage of their plan.
"CALLUM! GET BACK HERE!" Nathan shouted.
Laden with crumpets, Callum re-joined their team.
"Right boys, if you remembered to where your clothes underneath, take off your overalls. Jones, go prepare the hostages and grenades. Everyone else, keep firing."
~~~
Five minutes later
"Boss! They're ready. Just give your word and-" A sickening thwup to accompany the new hole in his head interrupted Jones's message.
"Damn, he was a good man," said Nathan. "Right boys, move back to the hostages."
Quickly the team retreated back to the hostages, still keeping up the fire. Unfortunately half of them weren't quick enough, and died before they got there.
With the team in the store and the cops not willing to accidentally shoot the hostages, there was an eerie silence.
"You two, are you ready?" asked Nathan, looking at the last members.
"I suppose so," replied Callum.
"Good enough for me. Ready the grenades. On my mark, pull the pins and throw. Callum, take the left. Steven take the right. I'll go for the middle. Use both your grenades, and space 'em out a bit. Got it?"
"Yep," replied Steven.
"Good. On 3. 3. 2. 1. Go!"
The approaching BPA officers watched as three grenades rolled out the door, followed by another three. With loud bangs, the area was covered with a smoke screen. Only seconds later, the hostages ran out the door in hysteria, with most escaping before the BPA could stop them.
Once the hostages had cleared the BPA entered the store, only to find out that Nathan and his team had disappeared.
