I miss the patience that vets had with noobs when they saw something was off & simply told them "You should really get that fixed soon" & moved on past it
What it all boils down to is that what I really miss is a smaller community

Agreed on both of these.
' Wrote:just observing - how most people liked the easy gameplay back then - and how the overcomplicated gameplay nowadays is unappreciated, yet - when you look into the threads about tightening the rules and leaving less freedom ( ID restrictions, equipment chart, ZoI stuff etc ) - its very often the same people who are in favour of it.
People often don't understand the long-term effect of what they ask for; what they think they want often isn't in the end as good as they thought.
Quote: and in that respect - yes, the updates come at a "way too slow rate" here.... .
YES.
I think the devs should at least try changing how they do the updates. Major updates would still be needed for storyline purposes, but imagine if new ships and systems appeared sooner, and not all at once.
Say Bretonia finally got a new ship designed and approved. They're at war, logically they'd want to roll it out as soon as they could - and one small update later Kusari's got a new ship to contend with.
Some Zoners are out exploring the Taus and one day there's a new jump hole they never saw before. Thanks to a new small update, Tau-117 was just discovered - it may be the only system in the upgrade, or maybe the GMG stumbled on an uncharted portion of the Crow Nebula at around the same time. Who knows. The point is that having the new systems appear one by one make it look less artificial and more like naturally Discovering new systems.
It may be a bit harder, but I think it'd go a long way toward enhancing the environment for the players and maybe even alleviating some of the complaints people have about the dev team.
Back then, I also heard a -lot- of complaining regarding the things mentioned.
I guess people just make their memories happier than they really were.
as for me, I miss brutal carnage.
- sigma 13 was too epic for words
- the omicrons were an all out warzone, no strings attached
- the Omegas still ahd proper activity
- NY sometimes turned into complete anarchy (yes, even more so than these days)
