Greetings,

a few facts:

- Miners make money by mining.
- Miners need time and efford with mining to make money.

- Pirates make money by pirating.
- Pirates need time and efford with pirating to make money.

- There is a rule which interdicts demands that are "out of the bounds"

So...
What people fail to see, is that Oorp the Pirate does not steal anything.

Both Guys simply got a different way of making money and both need to work for it.

If there was a limit how much a pirate can demand.... ... it should be 100% of the Cargo worth.

Why should you limit the money-gaining abilities of one job, but not the ones of the others?

Lucky Pirates can make more money than Miners.
Lucky ones that meet Miners that don't care about giving away much money.
If they would do care they would get escords in order to prevent the Pirates from making money.

Regards,
Talesin

That's a simple but good solution.

Cruisers are really easy to spot from more than a 13k distance.

Heck, you can even identify the faction they belong to before they show up on your scanner.

I don't see bigger ships as better piracy-vessels. The bigger they are, the worse they will work.

That. Plus the price of all of his bots, batts and ammunition. And guns in hold. And stuff.

Escorts? Dont make me laugh. Puny little horseflies bite Type twos at an astounding rate.

We arent failing to see anything. Simple matter is, The Pirate makes his credits off the time and effort of others who would have prefered to not lose their money. Miners=/=Traders either, which some of you seem to be forgeting.

But it is limited. By commodity prices, shipping times, and other factors. Although the msot important of these would be the free time the player has avalible. Player loses cargo, player loses free time, player loses his desire to play.

All the "GET ESCORTS" people fail to grasp that the escort needs to spend an equivalent amount of time escorting a trader does trading, and gets paid substantually less. Unless it is some RP fling for someone with so many credits that they wipe their exhaust with them, They are unlikely to come for a reasonable amount. Even if this is from someone with assloads of credits, they are likely to be more focused on their typing than on the lanes, which someone reduces their effectiveness. Furthermore, too many people put stock in the Scout's ability to kill the pirate, which is a highly unlikely circumstance, depending on the factions involved.

Let's make the limit 100 million and not a cent more. Anything above that will be sanctionable.

How do you evaluate how much is cargo worth? That's a valid question IMHO

To the original poster...

You're mining. One cargoload = 30mill+

If its miners, a higher demand is obviously reasonable. But if that miner does something other than open fire or F1, why kill him anyway?

Because he's getting close to a safe docking-spot?

Besides I don't think this thread is about getting killed, but about having to pay a toll.
