3. The sissy boys who run to the BS for cover actually dock on it and retreat properly, or they can just man up and die if they are too incompetent to stay alive by means that dont include camping a BS.
But running to a Battleship, flying around it, and then calling the other side coward, really? I mean, its so dumb that its funny.
Kudos to Don Igor, but you see, until there is a possibility to stay in space while stationary BS keeping all foes off from people there always be a sissy senoritas who do that.

Something may come out of this or not, but in any case it will help to understand the mindset of the opponent. We're ennemies only on the battlefield after all.
I hopped back on the forums for a quick study break to check my ship sale thread - but I ran into this. I really have to say that I appreciate what you are trying to do. Above all else, communication is important in any relationship, as you mentioned. So, I'll be blunt and completely honest with everyone here, and I'll share some of the opinions that I've often held back from the rest of the community.
Please do not be offended, or take any of this the wrong way. These are my opinions and they are not wrong or right - only formed from the experiences that I have had with the BAF and the experiences others have had and have shared with me.
Quote:It's a matter of communication again, especially when no oorp talks come to balance aggressive RP people from any side get mislead. The BAF got the point clear about the gank issue and made considerable efforts to sort the matter out. Camping at a base - I stress that I'm not writing about using it as a weapon for an actual fight willingly triggered - was addressed tonight and shed light on the frustrations both sides face in that situation. Believe me, that particular issue was brand new, and now we can work on that too.
This is nowhere near a new issue.
I feel that when it comes to communications, the BAF has an issue in that it has a disjointed view on how a large contingent of the community views them. When I say "large," I can only represent myself and the 20-30 people who I am aware of and believe to agree with me.
Again, being totally frank and honest, I dislike the BAF as a faction.
I will cite the most personal(but not the only) instance that justifies my opinion:
2 Hacker gunboats, a Hacker Sabre, and a Hacker Bayonet arrive in Dublin. The BAF bring a motley force consisting of independents, official BAF, BHG|(including 1 guildmaster), and assorted mercenaries:
1x BAF| Battleship(after flying it from connecticut to engage us)
1x BAF| Destroyer(which I do not believe engaged us)
7+ Fighters
3 Gunboats or more
The gank was so overwhelming that a friend of mine flying a BHG| at the time later left after realizing the scale of the odds, saying later that what happened was absolutely ridiculous.
The reason why this happened? Apparently, I was Ench. And the other three people in group with me were supposed to be pro-pilots as well.
In addition, someone on your side was screaming in group, "Gank them before they get more" - even though we had no form of reinforcements at all, and there were around 70 people on the server at the time.
That said, I don't really care that much - and I do not hold a grudge against anyone. But, the reason why I said that was because it serves very well to paint a picture of how those 20-30 people I know see the BAF. I do not think that I am alone in believing that currently, it is quite possibly one of the worst factions on the server. It's not just the ganks, and whatever else you're apparently accused of doing that I have not witnessed but flies in the fact of pvp propriety that somehow, Smoke is posting.
It's the fact that after something like this happens, the people on the bad end of the stick and I look at each other and say, "Well, we could tell the leadership, but nothing's going to change."
We've given up.
So, when my friends and I fly into Bretonia, we always have an exit strategy planned. If one of us gets ganked, it's not the BAF's fault. It's his or her fault for not realizing that they were going to get ganked in Bretonia.
Obviously, some of this is blown out of proportion, and is the result of lighthearted jesting - but, I personally am a bit disappointed that the House where I founded a faction is the house that I cannot bring myself to visit anymore.
The point of this post is not to flame, evoke strong emotions, or anger members of the community. I simply wanted you to know how I feel about your faction, and perhaps give you a bit of insight into how several other people feel about the faction - people who aren't exactly willing to reveal how they actually feel. I'm sure that countless people in the faction will take this as a personal insult and now make it their personal mission to see me burn, etc...
But that truly is not my intention.
I really appreciate you bringing this up, Beunt, and I feel that this will help people work our their differences. I am genuinely willing to give this a shot and see what you can do with it.
WHAT I SUGGEST:
I feel that what I have raised is a genuine issue and concern. It might not represent a great deal of the server, but for one, I know that it represents the views of many prominent members of the community, if not exactly accurate(I have a feeling that some of the people I know dislike the faction more than I do, and some of them dislike the faction less).
It would be impossible for progress to continue without sitting back and saying, "How do we fix our reputation? How do we make it so that people flying for the other side would want to fly with us to help even out numbers when there are major fights?"
For one, I've seen a major crackdown on ganks of late:
The last encounter I had with the BAF on my mercenary, Rouge, Lt. Commander Dirius Taine ordered additional, unnecessary fighters off myself and my wingmate. Unfortunately, when a third wingmate showed up, the nearby Bretonian destroyer told him that if my wingman engaged, he would as well - however, this wasn't an issue, since I thought it was hilarious.
Recently, I was a part of a major Corsair raid into Dublin consisting of 7-8 snubs and 2 battleships.
The BAF played by the books and sat on the Hood, realizing that we greatly outnumbered them. That wasn't really an issue.
I don't have a problem with camping bases prior to an engagement.
What annoyed me, however, was that after we were engaged, multiple fighters retreated to the stationary battleship and sat on the Hood instead of docking.
I don't mind if you don't engage until reinforcements show up(which, they did, in the form of two Bretonian battleships and multiple gunboats). But, either:
A) Wait for the reinforcements before you engage. B) Don't wait, engage, lose, and then dock.
From me, that's about it, as I can't comment on things that I have not seen or been a part of.
EDIT: Fixed a few grammar/continuity errors.

Are you honestly telling me that when you bring a force of that strength to a system with only a few BAF fighters on, you're really looking for a fair fight? I retort that you should not whine about basehugging if you're out to gank, both are equally reprehensible.
A second problem is that oftentimes we have to deal with large groups and indeed entire factions of pvp-whores who aren't going to wait around for the arduous process of us trying to summon reinforcements.
As the officer in charge of our forces that evening, I can tell you how I have seen it. I joined, launched from Essex, calculated the forces and knowing that no reinforcements will come I ordered an attack, because I foresaw the problem with alleged basehugging. We went down pretty fast, no wonder against such odds, even a gank I daresay, I hope no one would argue, with that solaris Ossie that arrived there. But that would truly be no problem, the rest of our boys were a little frustrated, but they calmed down. I wanted to make it a little fun for the Corsair party, hoping they would adjust their forces a bit. They didnt, but it is a game after all. What disapointed me yesterday, is other thing, which I will try to resolve in private. As for what Gato said, the feeling about BAF is truly present here and I felt it for a long time. We werent always playing like saints, but neither did our foes always. I suggest we try to make a line after this and set up regular events, where both sides would have chance to bring enough forces. All problems like ganks, basehugging and the resulting trolling and flaming on the forums would be instantly resolved. As for myself, all I can say is that whenever I am in charge, I will do my best to make both sides happy with the fight.
I've experienced this on both sides. As a corsair in Dublin and as a bounty hunter in Leeds. In Dublin it went pretty bad and it wasn't the first time: random BMM runs to base, stays there, they get 3+ gunboats and a repair ship and then they gank the **** out of our 3 fighters. Pretty fun, eh? Well not really. After that event I never set foot in Dublin as a pirate and since other decent pirates avoid it as well, I don't really bug in with my hunter there as well. Unless there is something worth killing for a good sum of credits.
The other recent issue was with a few Hogosha indies. I got on their lane, the one between Strokes and their battleship near the gate. Lane went "DISRUPT!" and I poped out. I saw 1 fighter and a bomber there, all fine. Some little RP and suddenly a 3rd one probably logs into space right next to us and they engage. Now I'm np with that, they had the numbers and I played like a cool guy, believing I can take them on. So I pulled my secret ace - called 2 IBA) or whatever they're called to even out the fight. And suddenly both fighters died. So what was next? The bomber ran to the Kusari Battleship and hugged it. We even called a bomber to try and disable the turrets, but... it failed since they restarted every 1 minute. So we were stuck there in the end we said "**** it" and left. So he won by being a bad sportsman. Woohoo.
So yeah, I'd like to see all that change. It's a pain in the rear and it ruins my fun.
P.S. I'd rather have them dock and ask me if they can stay in the system after 5 minutes instead of camping the base for 30 until I give up...

Alongside that, some onus needs to be placed on the offending unlawful parties. Make an effort to meet us halfway instead of expecting us to be infallible.

Did you just indirectly say that being me justifies being overwhelmed to the point I don't have much of a chance to fight back? I feel honored.:D
On a more serious note, my last encounter as part of the "Kusari side" against Bretonia's forces:
I see a known Solarizer-Dunkirk make its way out of Cambridge towards Dublin to CLEANSE PURGE KILL some fighters (no Kusari capital ships were present, Bretonian ones were however). I get a Battleship to counter said Dunkirk. Said Dunkirk lands on the receiving end of an Exterminatus along with all the smaller ships around. I gtfo. I reap: //wow, Q_Q, omgwtf, bits of RAEG, some Lulz of the Schadenfreude kind.
My last encounter as part of the "Bretonian side" against Kusari's forces:
I log onto my Templar, see KPT around, KPT don't seem to be engaging much at this time, I realize I'm outnumbered, I begin to do some talk, try to get myself a duel while looking for help. I find no help, get my duel, get my rear handed to me later. I'm all "yay gf!", log off, reap =D face.
