One way or another, Kusari is shafting itself.
For a few ships they have cut themselves off from the largest trade market in Sirius.
That would be like Ireland cutting off trade from the USA. It might hurt the USA but honestly, Ireland would be utterly screwed.
The argument that Rheinland is making up the rest of the trade is pointless.
If they were making it up why were they not trading as much before the embargo?
' Wrote:Nope, basing it off of two things, the utter lack of Synthpaste shipments into Kusari, and the Kusari storyline for 4.86, which says that Synthpaste sales and supplies in Kusari are dropping due to the work of the Farmers Alliance and Samura, and that Synthfoods has basically given up on their Kusari operations.
Color me surprised. Given the failure of Samura I would have thought their influence would have waned somewhat, not actually stemmed the tide of the increasingly popular product. I imagine that makes the Farmers redundant.
I'd ask what you mean by lack of Synthpaste shipments into Kusari but I'm sure it has something to do with players not moving the stuff.

Except for the fact that most of what Liberty has, Kusari has too. The weak point of Kusari is that they have no minerals or natural resources with the exception of food, and a small amount of Hfuel. There is not really anything that Liberty exports to Kusari that is a make or break commodity for Kusari. Liberty's power in Kusari comes from the work of Interspace, Ageira, and DSE. Loans and Tradelanes. Everything else we can pretty much get from other places, or can go without for a while.

Quote:The wealth of the Farmers Alliance is largely dependent on the wealth of Samura. Despite Liberty not being too strict in enacting any embargo of Kusari trade during the Bretonia-Kusari War, the Bretonian blockade coupled with political sensitivities and the activity of Bretonian privateers meant that Synth Foods could no longer deliver as much of its products to New Tokyo as it did before. While Liberty officials and insurance companies absorbed some of the losses from trade reduction, Samura lost the most, and few Synth Foods convoys could pass through Kusari without being attacked by the Farmers Alliance.
Meanwhile, food production on Kyushu is on the rise: the war required additional supplies and demand for traditional food increased when Synth Foods started to raise its prices.
And yes, it does have something to do with player shipments, but the meat of my reasoning can be seen above.
The point is that Liberty is the largest market for Sirius.
It's no use having plenty of fish if no one wants to buy it from you.
Liberty has been established as the largest economy in Sirius for centuries.
Kusari has literally cut itself off from over 70% of it's export markets, that it had in 800A.S., at this point in time.
While fighting a very taxing war.
And contending with unlawfuls.
Amazing that Kusari grows stronger in 4.86 actually. Rheinland's revolution really kinda screwed it over.
Kusari's make it stronger.

That and the USI built into every trade lane which enables some serious damage to be done. Which would be awesome as an in-game mechanic.
gone four years, first day back: Zoners still getting shot in Theta :|

Lets be clear... first, there are three items that are under embargo, Hfuel, Engine components and Plutonium. Aside from those items, trade is flowing normally between Kusari and Liberty.
So where is the downside for Kusari again? Remember, Kusari doesn't produce Hfuel or Plutonium for export, the GMG does, and it's shipped by Kishiro, but only shipped. Kusari produces engine components, but some of the excess can easily be used by the Samura and Kishiro, so that helps some, but yes there is a downside for Kusari, but not the monumental downside people seem to think is going on.
So whats the problem?
' Wrote:That is the rather hilarious other matter.
No Ageira/DSE = Tradelanes and jumpgates falling apart.
Liberty can get H-fuel, although not that much.
Kusari wouldn't exist without it's travel infrastructure.
As I said, there has been no restrictions placed on this by either Kusari or Liberty.
Also, there is another group out there that has tradelanes and gates and doesnt deal with Ageira or DSE.
