If you want add level 19 NPCs patroling it, bombers, you name it, just please... for the love of cargo piracy don't kill the few places you can sell a unique commodity for more then 100 credits each. (Talking about Luxery foods in particular, since I'm sure it has no other pirate sell point then Padua)
Exactly what Blodl1ke said. Has any of you actually done cargo piracy in Galileo?

Yes, yes I have. Both the cargo pirates and the player traders that pass through tend to be lolwuts. It's profitable and fun when you don't have to compete with others, though.
I have also been noticing destroyers and battleships in Galileo, probably the same cargo pirates. I have yet to figure out exactly what they are doing - they seem to just sit there on the lane, not seeing the rest of the server, and the rest of the server not seeing them!
See, I'm fine with limiting the crazy farming where it won't harm genuine cargo piracy from players, as in... H-Fuel is brought on a ton of pirate stations across Liberty, it's no problem if you cut it from a base or two. But Luxury Goods on the other hand are sold on one friggin base, you cut that and I can only go with the blunt give me credits, instead of "Looks tasty, can I get a hold-full as a sample?" Of course I can think of a wild idea for the credits, present good RP, but sometimes it's the cargo I want, for the sake of having some fun and being original. It's the only reason I pirate in a freighter the most lately.
So ye, nerf, cripple, maim all you want, just don't destroy unique commodity sellpoints like the Luxury Food one.
' Wrote:Actually, I did read, thank you very much. What you are saying is "No one wants to destroy NPC piracy, we just want to make it way less profitable by moving the jump hole to *insert how many solar systems away*".
So, basically, you do have a problem with NPC piracy.
Also, I was cargo pirating with loads of interaction in Galileo, thanks to tons of traders that go trough Galileo and Kepler to Kusari, or from Kusari. Hell, Pumpernickel going there shooting them is interaction. Without cargo piracy there he would have no pirates to shoot for his bounty board.
What you are trying to do is make NPC piracy so lousy that it will become a dead system.
And all I'm asking is why so much fuzz about another way to earn money, which is still considerably lousier then trading or smuggling?
And btw, it actually promotes freighter usage, for low rank players.
No one is asking for it to be less profitable. We are asking that a risk be involved with it. Again, if you read any of the posts you'd understand that. I pirate NPCs on one of my characters, claiming I have a problem with it is an ignorant assumption.
The issue isn't cargo piracy. Its the fact that this particular spot to NPC farm has no risk involved and due to its location and the location of the Cassini jump hole doesn't foster good player to player interactions. IE. The farmers either don't interact with anyone or run to Cassini and log their Spyglass to kill their aggressor.
There is a fuss because the lack of risk and lack of good player to player interaction leads to the fabled LoLwuts. It leads to players who don't know the rules, don't understand role play, and end up getting sanctioned because of it.
But, hey, you read the thread so you should already know that; because its been said already.
The #1 thing to do is to move that jump hole. It's in open space and in proximity of the lanes. Doubling that distance while maintaining the distance from Shikoku Jump Hole seems like a good option to me.
To my knowledge, commodities carried by transports are set per faction, the system travelled can't be taken into account without a complicated workaround.
About the L-words and other pejoratives: They can be applied to any other location just as well, and don't add any weight to the users' opinion, as I see it.
Galileo is a frontier system. I agree that perhaps anti-piracy players could use a better chance to intercept. That would be all.
I'm fairly certain the rate of NPCs carrying goods in Galileo has been dropped significantly already. I used to kill NPCs up in Galileo before it was popular, a long time ago, and the drop rates back then were easily capable of yeilding 100 million credits in an hour with two people working together. Lately it's more like 20 million at most.
Move the Cassini Jump Hole if you really want to, but don't nerf the prices. Galileo isn't the only place I've killed NPCs for loot, but for a lot of commodities Cassini is about the only place worth selling it.
' Wrote:Please give me a full list of which commodities are being farmed and taken to Galileo. I can't fix anything for .85, but I can make sure it is fixed for .86.
' Wrote:Dab, before you do anything, you need to talk to me first, because I already completely rewrote all the npc cargoes for 4.86 last year and submitted it to Igiss. What we probably need to do is edit which corporations show up in these border systems, rather than trying to approach it from the standpoint of specific cargoes. In any case, I'll take a look at the commodity prices, and that will mitigate a great deal of the unbalanced effects.
Before either of you make any changes in regards to the NPCs in Galileo, I'd urge you to consider that Cassini is also getting a major change in landscape next version. So don't balance the commodities based on what Cassini is today, but rather what Cassini will be upon 4.86 release.
Like I have already said in the reaver feedback thread (but where it has been silently erased by a certain moderator without notice or justification), I find your arguments hypcritical.
NPC farming has been going on in the same way for over 2 years... but for some reason, when other people were making their money without risk in this way, you didnt mind it.
Furthermore, your argument that you want to improve role play like this is deeply flawed.
You have spent hours blowing new people up in Galileio and also in Cassini, enraging them, which I believe was your intent. You could have spent much less time explaining role play to them, and role playing with them. And they would have learned something, and not developed a sour impression of the "verterans" of this server.
If you think that NPC farming there (for what I know it has been like that for a long time, jsut other people were doing it, you certainly knew about it) is unbalanced, ask devs to remove it. Dont use it as a pretext to hassle new players with your ganksquads.
