I dunno about you, but I am here for the RP and this is all good RP. That is an accomplishment on itself i would say.

Time-consuming metagaming devices like this clique to direct the course of server roleplay simply serve to widen the gap between the casual independents and the elitists. This is bad.

Not exactly. Before all of Bretonia's actions were directed by the BAF. After that, they were controlled completely by faction leaders and their 2iCs. Now we're throwing the doors open to leaders, members and indies who love the House and want to be involved.

This will enable more people than ever before to be involved. It discriminates against independents far less than the old system, and far less than any other player driven House government.

To the contrary: before, it was a few people trying to make decisions based on what messages came in and was occurring on the server, and serverside roleplay had an effect on things. Now, if anyone wants to be heard they need to play forumlancer. Not everyone wants to play forumlancer.

In that case, they wouldn't have been involved before either. Given that the majority of your time as an official faction leader / 2iC will be spent doing paperwork, it's kind of mandatory, and they were the only people involved. If people don't want to do the leg-work involved in participating, the fair enough to them. It just means they can carry on exactly as they were before. In effect, nothing would change for them.

This does mean that people who do want to be involved who otherwise would have been excluded can participate. If I'm understanding you correctly, you're saying this is a bad idea because the people that wouldn't want to do this anyway, and weren't involved in it before... are somehow being slighted?

I don't understand what you mean about ingame RP as well. The last few incarnations were based on reacting to ingame RP, just as this one will all be based on reacting to ingame events. I don't understand why you think that would change, just because more people are involved.

The people who were represented indirectly through Skype and ingame PMs before are now forced to hike over to the forums and make a post when they want to be heard.

Honestly, why does anyone think creating a time-inefficient bureaucracy is a good thing for the server?

The idea that spending dozens of man-hours on forum bureaucracy should constitute a minimum for "good RP" is extremely silly.

No one is forcing anyone to spend hours on the forum. If you want your voice heard, you do so on the forums as it is impossible to organize something like this in game.

It could be done in Skype but less people like that because it hides the 'role play' from sight of the rest of the community.

I think you're going to have to accept that using the forums is part of playing on this server, at least for anyone interested in more than their own role play.

As it stands, yes. I agree.

I just don't think you need a full fledged bicameral legislature on a GAME.
