Forgot how to enjoy Skyrim ?

I am currently incapable of progressing anywhere in the storyline because I keep getting sidetracked. It got a bit ridiculous when I finally forced myself to leave Whiterun behind and progess the story, somehow I ended up having a drinking contest in Ivarstead and waking up at the other end of the map in a town that is far too interesting to leave without completing all the quests there first.

If you don't want to re-roll, just use console commands.

player.setrace desiredrace
showracemenu

If you just do "showplayermenu" there's a high chance it will mess up your perks and skill levels.

I also advise on keeping the same character name when you do that.

I've used it a couple of times and it worked flawlessly, switching from female Nord female to Redguard male and then to Imperial female.

In any case, I recommend saving your game before trying this, just to be sure.

Doesn't work when you're playing on the Xbox 360... :nono:

You can even plug a USB keyboard in and still can't access the console. (Now THAT would make it incredibly cool - if we could do THAT on the 360, instead of having to wait until I can get a new video card for my computer in - which won't be until after Thanksgiving.)

EDIT: It was really nice to be able to import my Xbox characters into the PC on Oblivion, though...

If you're not having fun on Skyrim, you're doing it wrong. xD

But uh.. I went archer/one-handed assassin. I finished the main quest line for the Dark Brotherhood. Which is reallllyyyy cool. And in the process i have gained a 23 damage bow + frost damage, and a 20 damage dagger + life steal. So now that the quest line is finished, i can basically continuously do assassination jobs for the dark brotherhood. Hasn't gotten old yet.. and If i wana further progress in the main story, i've got all the armor, weapons, and experience i need.

Some points I don't like my character either and I want to try anything but I knuckle down and play him because it's more real that way. I shaped my character from my own actions and decisions as I made my way, not based on some pre-formed play so he feels more, "me".

23 damage bow/dagger isn't really that great compared to the kinds of things that Smithing can give you...
