Well, if it's punishable by rules as well.. then it's a real smuggling!!!:D

Ok, thanks for clearing up that for me. But apart from the whole sanctioning a trader for smuggling thing (which wasnt my intent on this thread btw) is it a good idea to increase contraband prices?

Heh that's true.

My proposition is to add a contraband good named: "Speed MoD" only sellable at Manhattan with incredible huge profit and that would be fun with 1 or 2 admins online at once and not get caught by them ^_^

Honestly, I feel the Smuggler ID is pointless. It was easier just to identify a target by their cargo. Hell, I don't care if you've got an Outcast ID, if I see you hauling Artifacts through Alpha somebody's going to (A) Pay me enough for a new Destroyer or (B) Die in a fiery ball of cargo pods. Most likely (B).

I also agreed that smuggling should be more profitable.

And i agree with Epyon.
There is also the Freelancer ID which perfectly covers a smuggler RP.

:mellow:You lost me there, mate, since a Freelancer implies a smaller craft, usually for combat. It's like a merc, but with more freedom in what he does.

If admins went with the letter of the law on that one it would be completely impractical for anyone to equip a trader or house corp ID. How many traders have never had a pirate escape pod in their hold? Yet NPC police consider that contraband. On the flipside, my moneymaker has delivered several loads of self-mined artifacts to Manhattan and has never been told to drop them by LPI or Navy NPCs.

If by your logic, carrying artifacts on a trader ID ship is a sanctionable offense, please advise what is the smugglar ID giving up ?

1. You can't just blow away a smugglar ID for being a smugglar.
2. Smugglar ID's are not limited to smugglar class ships. (Sure go sub 1000 on smugglar ships and I will reconsider your point of view).
3. "Most" pirates do not discriminate whether you have a smugglar ID or a Trader ID.
4. "Most" lawfuls" do not discriminate whether you have a trader ID or not if you have a cargo full of cardi.

If you restrict the traders from hauling cardi, Tell me again then my friend, why would any one use a trader ID then?. Now think about it. If you are a smugglar, why would you put a banner on yourself of being a "smugglar". The lawfuls can scan you as well as any other trader. What are you gaining or losing out of using a smugglar ID ?

As for Corsair IFF, I am not referring to the IFF. I am referring to the ID in your hold. Two totally different things.

Want my 2 Cents?, Remove mooring from the planets that sell cadi.....no ?, create a trading post in space infront of the planet to buy from where only small ships can dock. Wanna buy cardi or artifacts at a low price?, hire a local trawler to fill you up. This will promote a second economy where factions will vie and fight for rights to control these docks.

id like to say that things are quite fine in the way they are, if you make smugling more profitable than there will be no more casual traders and zoners and probably pirates will be out of work
