Ok I must come clean. I have been capship free during my time hear on the Disco... until last night! I bought an Albatross. Why? I created an IMG trader a while back and have been making good RP runs. In doing that I made a few runs to Freeport 4. Blessing and Curse - we have a Freeport! Frequently I have run across numerous pirates hanging out in front of the Freeport pirating and mining NPC's. the Zoners have a no fighting rule near their Freeports and I think we need the same. The difference between us and the Zoners is We have enemies. I have been pirated in front of Freeport 4. I gladly pay pirates - but it seemed wierd to do it right at our own base. So I wanted to create a Cruiser character just to pop out occasionally and scare off the riff-raff. Last night I bought the Albatross and went to Magellan to properly fix the rep. I launched from Free4 and there sat a Hacker pirate "mining NPC" trains. The conversation went roughly like this:

Pirate: Whoa! that is a BIG ship matey!

Me: Aye!

(i watch the pirate blow up an NPC train - didn't catch the faction)

Me: Are you mining transports right here in front of my base?

Pirate: Ummm... it was a gun mistake, I misfired... sorry...

(Pirate heads to nearest trade lane and flees leaving all the booty floating)

Me: In the future, please stow the guns around the Freeport.



Long story to say we need big ships to guard our outlying bases and key shipping lanes - but we have to remember - we aren't the police and we aren't the military. The Bretonians won't like us parading around in warships. But they need to know we have them in case they decide to blockade Cardiff or South Shields. BUT we need to only have a couple of them online at one time.

So I have joined the ranks of the capshipers!

Transport ships:

Do we have any modelers in the group? I have posted many times on our need to have a medium sized mining ship/transport. The big honkin' Mining Ship is impossible to fly thru asteroid fields. I flew the GMG mining ship for a little while - but it was weak and with it's tanks it did not look like something to haul rocks in. It's hitbox seemed a bit large also. So I have been transporting with the Borderworlds transport. But we need our own midsized miner/transport.

Three things. 1.) Tell me what I need to do to become a member. 2.) Is there a legend for that map? 3.) Damn it I forgot. Oh yea! I can model...barely....I can make an attempt...But you won't like the results...

The ship I am envisioning can be ugly - probably needs to be ugly! It needs to be skinny and manueverable. And it can look like it bounces off of rocks constantly... but i don't want it to bounce off of rocks that often!!! As manueverable as the Borderworlds transport or the Firefly - but a little less cargo - more armor.

well - we are currently gathering up - so there should be no problem for you to become a member i think

aye - i remember reading in some news that IMG originally came from Rheinland. I dont know the dates yet but i think we should try to cook up some rheinlandish traditions like using german words for the political structure (eg consul/counsil). so there would be a reason for those refugees to join up.
but still there is some research to make - would be a shame if the old IMG left rheinland just because they were in conflict with the crown. then i could like bury my char since no one would offer a refuge to a member of the former royal family >______<'

wow, I didnt think yall would like it this much. But we have a problem, neither me nor Ian are any good at paper work, Im afraid if i tried to make the faction request that I would mess it up. If there are any Volunteers out there I can offer you a garunteed high rank

hmm - i could work on it this night after reading the rumors and all. however, as most of you may have already noticed, i'm no professor of the english language. so it would be nice if someone volunteers to do the grammar corrections

i think the IMG should be some sort of a oligarchy where the eldest families each have one member in a council. ooc: every member which was there since day one can have one char in the IMG council. if someone leaves the ranks he should be replaced. pro- and demotion of _characters_ should be important for the council i think.

i highly and strongly agree about Orkney as our 'home', as we have no issues with the Gaians (my IMG characters get on well with them) and it also leads straight into Tau space:)

although we would need to discuss Orkney at a different time since we need to actually get to that stage first heh

oh on the subject of capships, i would like to ask you all: where would you like me to station the Endeavour?
as you can see from my signature it is an Alby class and is currently armed with 3 cerberous turrents, 1 Light Mortar, 2 BS missle turrents, 1 cruiser missle turrent and the rest are all IMG cruiser turrents
i was thinking of Tau 31 (since IMG do own the trade lanes and the main base there) but it will probably be needed elsewhere

The characters that fly millitary ships could have ex military in there RP backgrounds.

i did originally have a backstory to my IMG character but cannot remember it well, it was that Ian had originaly been a member of the BMM but since he found out of all the non-humain things they did to their emplyoers (one of the thins was that they feed them less-than-sloop because the planet their employee's were based on made them lose both their smell and taste)
i would happily re-incorporate that again since i havent had much of a reason to RP in-depth untill the last 3 weeks i have been hanging in Bretonian space

also i am RPing that the Atlantia can dock in the Endeavour but i will be glad to abandon it for something better as it was the only way i could justify having both a BC and a fighter with one character

where would the Spatial fit into this? to me it is a hybrid of a freighter and fighter but it is classified as an Explorer

ok - we have TWO BCs now ... =(


thats damn much - meaning: no more gunboats, cruisers or what-so-evers. after all we are miners. and IF we pull out a BC then for representing purpose only. dont you think? :paranoid:
