So. I felt like letting people before the start shoving money/time/materials and friendships in it.

Nothing is worth the trouble. Don't try Friendly warning.

Pretty much useless trash taking cargo space.

Edit:

Edit2: Why barge can't participate the -exorbitant- expensive Fleet Jumps?

' Wrote:No, it can't target you, but it can hit you (like any other weapon, as you're still solid), the same way you can accidentally hit NPC's even when you don't aim at them.
Also, blindly firing can be used to know your location.

' Wrote:Cloaking device is useless, atm.

First, it needs some time charge, and during this time you have no shield.

If you are cloaked the H-Fuel will run out fast.

and Second.

If you deactivate the cloak, you have for a small time no shield. So 20 or 30 seconds.

Which is enough time to burn you down.

Edit:
You have no CMs, ergo a beautiful target for a single Cruiser/BS Missile.

' Wrote:Even an unequipped Osprey can only cloak for 20 seconds then.

I had to check the date when i read these things. It wasn't an aprils fools joke. Why go through so much trouble, both developing these things and then for players, who put in massive efforts to get... what? 20 seconds of cloaking at the cost of... I don't even wanna think about that. And to find out that you're not safe from CD's and other missiles... What were you thinking? Did the Dev team go... "Duh, let's make some stuff that cost a lot and make a cool lightshow!" In that case I have some news! We already had that option. It's called Pimp-ship, and only costs 2 mill.

I read somewhere that this was supposed to increase RP. How? People have even less time to RP now, since they have to spend hours and hours hauling stuff to build their gadgets. And that doesn't even count for the hours needed to supply these credit-sucking black holes. I was considering building a base myself, but seeing now that the things these bases produce are more or less useless... Then what's the point?

These words are well worth considering before building a base. Sure... In the beginning it's all new, exciting and fun. But what happens after a month? 6 months? A year? The bases will need supplies 24/7. They never close. Are these groups of friends that once pulled together to get that shiny base still willing to do what it takes to supply that base day in and day out? One day, they'll wake up and realize that this isn't relaxing and fun anymore. It's become a burden! Something you HAVE to do!

I made some calculations on daily supplies for the base I was planning to build. I've optimized the supply lines as much as I could in order to have very short and cheap supplyroutes. I still land somewhere around 5-6 working hours to haul this. EVERY DAY! Costs for this would be approx 15-20 million SC. If you do this the RP-way instead, and hire a shipping company for it, they'll wanna make a profit. The time you managed to free is suddenly eaten by the fact that you have to trade or mine yourself, just to pay for these transports. And for those who built their bases way out in the Edge worlds... I don't even wanna think about that!

BALANCE! That's the keyword here. It's unreasonable for these gadgets to have such a limited impact given the cost of creating them. I don't mind that it requires a lot of stuff to build and create stuff, but the amount of supplies used every day could be reduced a lot. If not, maybe the transports could get increased cargospace. Our 5k transports could be buffed into 10k transports. Or open up the possibilty to buy a Barge at a dealer.

I'd have loved a jumpdrive or cloak for my order cruiser, but alas... I cannot carry one with my Cap8+ guns and have it be worth it.

Very nice guide though.

I’ll carry this flag
To the grave if I must
Because it’s flag that I love
And a flag that I trust

All of these are made to drain money from the economy.

I figured that much. I guess this is a more "legit" way, than to simply hack all accounts and remove all the cash. I mean... In the end, the players are left standing with nothing in any case.

Whoa whoa whoa hey now.

1) It's free.

2) It's a new release of game-changing stuffs. I'm not surprised they leaned towards conservatism when deciding what you could do.

3) It's free. So watch your tone, all of this could easily not exist.

you guys definitely do not fly BSes too often, do you? (sun)
Yes, cloaks are not so effective for snubcraft. But if you mount an Au7 instead, you'll have a guaranteed way of escaping on many snubs, bombers especially. (if you will survive for 15 seconds while it activates)

What I meant was, you can get hit by them, but you must be really unlucky, as there's no way to target you, NO WAY. If you were able to fire to as many different directions as you could, at the same time, you'd get hit, as you are solid.

No, not anymore! Not since you bought them from me! I've flown plenty of caps to know what I'm talking about. If you'd bothered to check my sig, you might have gotten a little hint, but... I guess you missed that!

What I mean is that there has to be bigger bang for the money. Two possibilities.
1. You build your own base, and spend countless hours hauling stuff, and spend billions of credits.
2. You buy it from someone who has gone through alternative 1, and then added a nice profit to it. $$$$$

Result: 20 seconds... With such a long foreplay, there just HAS to be a bigger bang!
