Because they learn how to discover (or at least look up) profitable trade routes.

Had maybe 3 or 4 beggars in 2 years playing time. Sometimes I really have a soft spot for them. Espeicially when it's some level 5 guy. So I give them a few 100k as starting gift. If it's others I direct them to mining spots/suggest them trade routes and whatnot.

*yawn*

Zoner.

Imaginary money my a$$. It still takes away time to make that money, and there's no such thing as "imaginary time".

Having said that I don't mind being generous, even to pirate players, so long as they're not behaving like aholes. I'll even make "donations" to random outlaw chars just for the hell. It's RP for my trader char who likes to grease the axles.

But I really don't like people who lie and extort, like that example above, even in a game. It's a scumbag act. I think its sad that people find such tactics ok and cool.

I help new players who want to make money, I'll share the routes I use and even point them to bases they don't know about yet. Most of my characters are in the "neutral" state so I help them if they want to turn pirate. If they're especially nice I might take it upon myself to even give them a little seed money. That's the thing though, they're all new players. In tiny ships.

If a guy made enough to afford a ship with that much cargo space he's got to be gaming you. I know how a few million credits can save hours of work on a new character and once or twice in the past few years I've borrowed such an amount with a (kept) promise to pay it back with interest, but I never once pretended I needed it.

My whole roundabout point here is that you're not in the wrong. Helping people is at your discretion.

I think that's just another way, if they do, that's just another way of making money, it's like piracy and "2millordai", but without the "dai" part, like there's Ninja salvagers in EVE online, so it can be K.

I usually give 'em about 2mill and try to explain it to them. I lose alot of credits that way, but i remember when i was a new player I really appreciated it when people went out of their way to help me. But in a 5k trans? I've NEVER had a 5k trans, I should be begging him to give me credits.

Ignore em just like any other game =P. I doubt people would cry sanschun if people begged at them in MMORPGS...

It should be the same here.
