Just thought I'd point out that Gaia isn't scheduled to be terraformed. Planetform's operation in the area is Planet Ayr. The only "threat" to Gaia is the tourist industry bringing outside organisms to the planet, affecting the indigenous life.

It's official, I have too few ships now...

Maby it's my egotisticle side but I really like the idea of 'owning a planet'
Baron von Soong. Nice ring to it.

But seriously...if I owned a planet I could charge a docking fee. Say for some planet like Denver.
Or I could refuse certain factions entry.
Heck you could even have a unique item that grants the carrier the right of ownership to XX planet(s). That would get the pvp whores going.
"look! I own 7 planets!!! I pwned the previous owners!"

Say for example each privately owned planet would be 'sovreignly' owned and have a 2km radius of ownership.
Most of the time the planets would act in the space they are in

like in liberty you follow liberty laws and such.

I don't think that this will happen in this way somehow. However, if an RP story was absolute AWESOME!!!!! then maybe the whole thing of buying a planet could be done. It would have to be bought from a private company or guild rather than a house as most nations are rather protective of their land (just look at britain with the falklands and gibraltar), even if it is actualy an economic drain.

It would be oorp to buy/sell inhabited planets. Think of it, why would you sell a planet which is paying you tax and gives you power. You may be able to buy the rights to terriform a planet(RP wise) from the faction which owns that system but it isn't a likley idea due to the fact it would need to be modded each time someone terriformed a planet.
