' Wrote:The problem, Miranda, is that it then becomes completely unbalanced. The unique nature of Zoner diplomacy means thy have very few enemies, and in OSI's case, due to their extreme political competence, near zero.
They also have access to top of the line fighters and equipment, 5k's, and now, they can trade anywhere their heart desires.
Do they deserve it for their stellar performance? Debatable.
But that's besides the point. It's unbalanced, and clearly so.
It's exactly the same old Zoner powertrader ID that got nerfed to hell back in the day, and the faction-only designation doesn't stop it from being OP.
And Veygaar, the OSI is more or less the de facto Zoner faction. YOu can say what you want about the Omicroners and the TAZ, it's the OSI who has always led the way in Zoner diplomacy.
Shooting the OSI is not an option under anyone's book; the TAZ will more or less back them to the hilt and the Omicroners aren't around anymore to play the devil.
Fun fact: It's really easy to join OSI.
Fun fact: They gave up access to Zoner capital ships in order to do this.
Fun fact: I think everyone in this thread is just mad.
A way a lone a last a loved a long the riverrun, past Eve and Adam's, from swerve of shore to bend of bay,
brings us by a commodius vicus of recirculation back to Howth Castle and Environs.

Fun fact: most other trading factions don't have capital ships to begin with.
But that's all besides the point, really, of minor concern given the reality of OSI's leadership, and the associated possibility of misuse or abuse.
Like i said, i'm more concerned about the precedent this sets or doesn't set.
Quote:At the very least, is this going to be setting some sort of precedent?
Will other factions be able to request unbalanced things on their ID's based on some sort of merit or roleplay reason?

As is all other factions besides one or two elite-invite-only ones.
There is no other faction that can land in house space with 5ker with CM. Yet they don't have even caps to fly currently, not to talk about great diplomatic stance. Oh, and they admitted to using nontagged JumpShip from time to time making that "balance" rather redudant to begin with.
Last fact is not a fact, making your other facts cripple on validity.
Ye, OSI ID is unbalanced, plain and simple. every person with a gram of working brain should understand that. But they did put a lot of effort, they kept activity above average level, their roleplay on forum is constant and interesting to read. They do deserve it.
People afraid to pirate them should not even bother to say that as they are insulting their competence as a pirates all by themselves. Any pirate ignoring OSI out of fear is not a pirate but a mere pussy. Pirates have Junkers to rely on as well.
Hey, pirate us all day every day. We are weaponless transports who get lost in systems we haven't even hear of. I'm not sure what stops people from doing so.
' Wrote:In all honesty jumptrading on a Zoner ID > anything else in the mod, powertrading-wise.
Do the OSI do that still, through contracted Zoner carriers or something similar?
And if the OSI have their own ID, where does that put them in relation to other Zoners?
We rarely ever jump anymore. I think its been well over two weeks since we did. I don't want to hook my members on a game mechanic that, at least in its current form, won't be around very long.
And we're still Zoners. Nothing at all has changed there.
Alright thanks. Well with the jumptrading in its current form, the generic Zoner ID is more "OP'ed" than yours then, and they get that "for free" without investing the RP effort in it.
Somebody will probably also challenge your neutral diplomacy at some point, so enjoy the traditional power trading while it lasts *logs indie pirate bomber* :-)

And how many times do we get to pirate you before we find ourselves barred from Zoner bases?
The protective barrier Zoners have is their bloody damn usefullness
