Perhaps a database wipe is in order somewhere down the line, I'm sure you devs would love to take a hatchet to a fair few things and we'd all like the number of systems to be reduced.

People will bitch and moan but hey they do that already. Just imagine a streamlined disco, fresh and new. No more guard systems or IDs. Fewer ships. Fewer factions. Fewer stations. But all the possibilities. Ah a man can dream.

This should happen every mod update in my opinion.

Why would it lower the player count? To my knowledge almost every veteran at some point 'starts over' making a new character without dredging funds from their previous accounts. It would be exactly the same, a fresh start.

People won't like their stuff being wiped, naturally we've worked for our ships, characters and factions. Now consider how many issues a simple restart could solve, the bloated starmap could finally be trimmed down to the size without massive headaches for the team. Useless factions could be removed or merged into others or brand new ones could take their place.

You can't tell me the idea of beginning anew isn't the slightest bit appealing.

I would totally leave this server if playerwipe happened. This is terrible idea.

I can and I will right now

It isn't at all appealing in any way and never will be, ever.

how is, being forced to have every character you ever had deleted and starting again.

the same as

I feel like starting again and working from the ground up.

you must be intellectually challenged if you cant see the obvious downfall to the server that a player wipe would be.

"why would it effect player counts if admins completely wiped everything the players have ever worked towards without their consent".

Try to think before posting.

What player count?

A year ago, high time in Disco was 200 players.

Now it's 120.

And yes. Player wipe.. Not that epic or even smart.
I would have to kill that bunch of people all over again to have money again.

Not fanny.

Hida I see you are a novice at debating otherwise you wouldn't of gone to such length to insult me over an opinion. If you cannot be civil whilst discussing matters I'd ask you refrain from replying to my posts. Further more I did not contradict myself nor did I even suggest the admins would wipe without players consent, so kindly stop putting words in my mouth.

You asked how is deleting everything and starting over the same as beginning a new character. In the context of that new character, for which I was referring, it would be the same. There would be no transfer of credits, weapons or armour. It would be as if everything was brand new, would it not?

Now if we can continue without lowering ourselves to childish barbs. Why would a wipe be so terrible if it shrank the number of systems to promote more player interaction? Would the sacrifice of previous characters be too high a cost in comparison?

(rofl)

Dii.. You are a novice.

Lol.

Seriously, man? One, you are insulting an already known player that i do point, is one of the two that managed to get one of the new SRP's.
That means he is no noob. It means he knows the ropes, the tides, the roleplay and without a doubt, Disco.

Your context involves that the devs are willing also to alter like.. 80% of the storyline.
Yes, because while you (much probably) do not have an issue with your roleplay, don't know if dependent on systems and already estabilished lore, getting cut in half..
I can surely bet a lot of roleplayers out there do.

Yes. They also evolved their roleplay alongside with Disco storyline that takes place in the multitude of systems that already populate Disco today.

And to add that., a player wipe?

The banks, the abuse in names (like someone taking the place of all the effin' official tags and known player names) etc.

Man, the tears, the rage, the awesome.
