i still think the angels should ask spot-test questions about the rules, and hand over cash if people get it right. if they get it wrong....

Because we have already shown that killing a newbie solves all the problems.

I would count a FL rhino as fine in rp, to me a freelancer with a faction IFF, is a freelancer who works for that faction. you have a point, but:

I personally have run into this loads of times. Several times a day actually. My first day here I got shot by a Rogue Dezzie flying back to Pennsylvania when I was still in my Starflea. Yeah sure I've been here for a while, but I stopped playing back in 4.84, and I came back to this new and improved and much different 4.86. A lot had changed that I didn't even know about, but I kept going based on the old 4.84 that I remembered.

Everyday I bug at least 5+ players while I'm flying around about their ID/IFF combo. More then once have I received no responses, thank you's and even F-Bombs. I'd say I myself am in the mediocre of the rules and know most of them to the best of my abilities (I learned the hard way that gunboats and stuff can now actively hunt/pirate/shoot transports).

I will admit, the ID/IFF setup can be challenging and confusing for those that don't know about them. Sometimes a new person understands "oh ok, i need this DSE ID for what I want to do" but when you dock on Baltimore, and your rep isn't high enough, you can't buy it, and they might not know why they can't, so the next best thing, freelancer.
Some instances require that you have to be a LOLwat for a while. For example, the Stork only being for sale in Rheinland. Universal, DSE, etc can't obtain this ship after they buy their ID, or else they'd be shot trying to get it, or turned down by the docking permissions. (I had to do this yesterday. Flew to Berlin with a Freelancer ID, got the ship and broke a rule by flying a 5k transport with a Freelancer ID, just to fly back to Liberty and get the right one).

A lot of things aren't explained, even here on the forums, for things that go on in game. Though I do want to say Kudos to Sindrome for doing this. It needed to be done, so people realize what they're actually "not" doing.

There are a few moments in the video where I can see why people wouldn't notice the abnormalities with your ship

1. LN at Manhatten get red on scanners all the time, they're called Junkers. The imediate thought if a red is seen infront of the planet and none of the bases are shooting at it, "Meh, probably an indie junker". Chances are some people there didn't even click you. That with the added confusion of a LN ID'd Kusari Dessie parked at Manhatten (*FacePalm*) chances are the only person who clicked you was the AI. Who was an idiot quite frankly, and certainly should be punnished for that in my opinion.

2. 75th guy. When he turned up you were shooting up Xenos, its entirely possible he thought you were repping. Probably the same with Flox, chances are he assumed you knew you were Rogue IFF'd and assumed, since you were out shooting Xenos, that you were repping and left you too it.

I only think you had some bad/unfortunate experiences .
Try other plases and you will see , not only that the older players are giving some indications , but that they actualy are helping new players acomodate easier .

Well ... except those who dont want to be helped or who's attitude says "get lost , i'm the smartest around and dont need any help" .

I agree , if you start Liberty and you arrive NY , offcourse you will have little help because there are always 30 players doing absolutly nothing , but dont generalize that .

Have faith , those who want to be helped will alway be helped .

PS. btw .... what is with those F* words and C* words in your video , when you put such video on forum you expect also chidrens and girls to watch it and why they should learn or leasten such words ?
I sugest you stop using that kind of language , some of us don't use it and have no pleasure in hearing anyone using it .

I'd suggest a reading test of sorts, in a single unconnected system have one base that doesn't sell anything and a one way jumphole leading to certain death. Force the newbie to read the rules to find out how to use the restart commands.

Other than that there isn't much you can do, those who want help will ask for it those who don't will just ignore you. The rest will need to be lucky enough to encounter someone with the patience to set them right.

It is sad the area all new players start in is the area that is least friendly to new players.

When I was a new player, most liberty officials either ignored me or shot me. As I continued to play, I was always seeing new players being destroyed by navy officials who wouldn't bother to explain to these new players why exactly they were being killed. It was usually because they were carrying contraband, illegal equipment, or had an extra ID, unaware that this was against the rules.

Oddly enough, factions outside of liberty seem to be the most friendly. When I was a new player transporting out of bretonia, I was stopped by some corsairs. First they went about pirating me, as expected. But then I stayed to speak with them just for the fun of it, and they even gave me a commodity as a "good luck charm". Whenever I've had rep or contraband issues that I wasn't aware of while present in liberty space, I was immediately arrested and often destroyed. Whenever I had these issues anywhere else (while I was at a low level, and clearly a new player), I was usually informed that my guns were illegal, or that a commodity I'd beamed in from an NPC was illegal, and warned that if I continued to use them or didn't drop the commodity, I would probably be arrested or destroyed.

Shouldn't liberty be the most friendly to new players, since players start in liberty? You'd think so, but no.

Don`t know if this is the right place to post this. I am a sort of newbie, but I`ve come back after a few years. I used to have a character that I wrote quite a bit of RP for. In the process of trying to bring him back, I have left messages with the BPA etc, and have had not had a reply after a few days.

If the heads responsible for these positions don`t get back to RP messages, how is one supposed to flow with the RP of ones character. I have decided to not bother with bringing the character back and to try and start fresh.

The point I`m making is this : if I was a total newbie and I was trying to RP in the forum stories section, bar, etc, by making a direct conversatory per se to another person; if he/she was in a position of responsibility, then one should get an answer in the form of RP in response to the post.

Am I making sense......

In actual life every great enterprise begins with and takes its first forward step in faith...

Half the reason my Robin_Hood/Merrry Men chars exist is to help newbs, and they've been my most active chars lately. Most newbs I see will just ignore my offers for help though, and fly silent, so I think thats why people dont bother helping them as often as wed like.
