I really had the feeling when a read 'new' that was about replacing vanillas models with ones from these game era,but unfortunately thats not gonna happen and is one more ship that may or may not look nice but will never be used ingame so what's the point?better work on something that someone will actually use id and for those unique ships, why not just "imagine" it on forums since that's what will be anyway to those who RP it if it would actually exist inside game..
so..yes i voted "YES" before i actually read the thing QQ

People want to believe that God has a plan for them.
They don't wanna believe that anyone else does..

Unique ships are cool and always neat to run into....
but people have a bad habit of vanishing after they get something only to themselves. The RoS for instance just got its own shipline and system and now they are one of the least active groups. The Tundra is pretty much gone, along with Mon'star.

That's the trouble with giving people special ships, instead of becoming a tool for RP they become a trophy, a way of saying "I'm better than you" rather than making the server a more interesting place and once that person has gone you've basically got a wasted ship. Let's face it, given the sometimes childlike mentality of our community it won't be long before someone else wants their own ship, or complains about them, calls for nerfs and kicking up a fuss.

If unique ships are to be put in at some point tie them to a faction, not a player. It's not a perfect solution and I'm certain people will still complain about it but at least you can turn around and say "If you want that ship, you'll need to take over the official slot." Hell for once we may have a reason for factions to compete for officialdom.

So tie them to be like shared ships among the faction?

i could agree with that

Exactly, that way if one faction goes down the drain the ship doesn't go with it and the next faction can continue using it, almost like a legacy.

As expected the thread went into the holes, consider this a bump - factions with uniqueships, sounds fair

Were fools to make war on our brothers in arms.

I totally agree that we could need more diversity. Some kind of unique flagships for official factions would be quite awesome.

But, we already have a lot of good ships available to the public. Those however, get some dust simply because another ship outmatches them and they're considered useless. HF, LF, VHF should, pvp wise, be on the same level to make all of the models appealing.

Same with transports. Most players use freighters only when they start from scratch. This is simply because the other transports highly outmatch them. As soon as you have enough money for a transport, you usually get the transport.

Transports with a cargo <3600 have the same issue. They are rarely used, except if the players don't have the money to buy something bigger yet.
So, a lot of the ships we -already have- are simply not being used.

If each of those ships would have its perks (e.g. trading cargo space for speed, hull, firepower etc) to make every ship viable in the early aswell as the late stages of the game, the ships who catch dust would actually be used.

slightly off topic here, but also consider pricing. eg. when you pay more for something, you expect it to be an upgrade, not just a more expensive ship with a different perk.

No atmosphere? GTFO.

I'd disagree, these ships shouldn't be better just different, a status symbol, an icon, something people look at and say "That looks sweet" rather than "That's OP." You only need to look at playerbases to see how a well intentioned addition can cause so much stupidity and fighting,

If these ships were being handed out to adults things would be different but they won't be, so we need to remove any sharp edges or small objects before we throw them into the playpit of toddlers.
