You can throw tomatoes into me, but main reason for me to log my rogue GB is for trolling RP (yeah, I know it's bad ) against law keeping forces. Even PvP is second in list, but first is to RP badass guy, and half-suber crew of ship.

Money I have from CAU VIII Legate, 3 Platinum| chars, SIS-Yamakashi, and I find it's sufficent for me, and pirating transports only in few reasons:
1) They are comming right near me, and it would strange to pirat to say: "Hello moneybag! Have a safe flight." It's not very rare situation, when traders comming relatively near Niverton station. Like a prey comes right into hunter's hands.
2) As a way to inform system and local law keeping forces about my presence, and it's sort of invintation for some interaction.

Pirating independant players is not so funn, because, they are silently trying to cruise/thrustering away, and when their b/b at 0 and station still far, but hull nearly down, you can hear: " what do you whant?" Hehe, like you don't know what a pirate can want from a trader? Or they die, and it's not rly fun, because, blue for a transport isn't cool.

So...pirate ships are professiona navy trollers for me, and I like it.

Low-level piracy is not more profitable then trading.
Organized faction piracy with ability to effectively lock down systems and wipe out whole factions is really profitable.
I made from low level piracy over 200m in the last month, and over the years may be 4-5b. I pirate for fun, the profit is not the main goal, it is rather credits that I does not really need ( I lost more then 15b credits by inactivity wipes) still 1-2 b cover all of my characters and all of my needs.
Organized faction piracy gives a way better results.

Piracy is more or less my only souce of income since one year - it pays my bills, gives me some spare cash to feed into projects and buy some ships.
While i can't sign the calls of 100mil an hour it still pays as it is not as dull as trading/smugglin or mining, so you can keep doing it for a longer time( at least that is true for me)
My advice for piracy: don't overdo it - don't troll the traders, don't pew them for the lulz or something....the goal is to give a feeling of "not being completly ripped" - otherwise they will simply log another boat and try to kill you , which shortens your piracy time! Also...you want them to come back instead of chasing them down, this pays more while being lazy Wink

So, OP - it pays, jsut be nice to the guys and don't ask for so much cash that it really really hurts and you will do fine!

I guess i have to agree with @Lonely_Ghost for having a troll-ish pirate ship(s) and with @Govedo13 because i find some juicy targets at 400 mils cargo that can be pirated and sold their cargo in under 3mins..
Quote:However, while your friend earned 300 mill in one week pirating, he could have earned over 1 billion by trading/mining.
1 billion is possible in 1 day if you have the nerves and time to do it Big Grin
*not from piracy if it isn't obvious enough
**i mostly earn enough to buy ammo and such ,from piracy..don't really need the money at this point..

People want to believe that God has a plan for them.
They don't wanna believe that anyone else does..

Disco is a special place to play, since you can make more than enough money in a week to cover anything what you want to enjoy here. (Except those damn Barges for sure, but who want to fly a poisoned brick?)

If you would like to roleplay the bad guy, just do it without any further motivation to earn cash from it, you have more than enough already.

There are more than 300 ways to earn cash, Avalanche listed 'em once, can't find the thread atm
Although i said it depends on your cleverness and activeness
You can't actually tell which way is better than which one, every one is expert in different ways

Exact my way of pirate playin. Whole day in Liberty and haven't pirated a single ship- NP. Whole day in Liberty and haven't made Navy very angry and calling up to a dreadnougt to deal with you- day is lost. Like that.

You can make loads of money being a pirate! All you have to do is to do it right. I can honestly say I've made from piracy in about 2 hours more than people make in a day.

In general from speaking on both sides of the argument - Trading and being pirated for more than 5mill - I destroy the cargo and die - the other side I seldom ask for more than 5mill as its about as much that is reasonable in my opinion. After all if I am flying a cargo of ore that I paid say 15mill for and a pirate demands 10-15mill I loose all my profit and might as well not haul ores.
