So wait, you're saying turn the Persephone into the old model of the Zoner Dread?

The problem is that the Devs would have re-create/make a new hitbox, loadout, etc. Essentially creating a new model. The reason is the old Jinkusu is now the nephilim. So the Zoner Dread has been edited to match the new model, with the old stats/hitbox done away with. So unfortunately it would be fairly close to the same amount of work of adding in a whole new ship. Not as easy as just replacing the model unfortunately.

Also, my own opinion, but the Jinkusu model was meh compared to the new Neph and Perseph. Import or not.

Couldnt they just apply the old stats they used to use to the jink model? Also pers is sposed to be old ship that neph is derived from...

Yeah I know it's origins.

As far as stats, as I said, those were overwritten by the new Neph. I actually talked to Aerelm about this. Here is what he told me on Skype:

1st link was the model we had in 4.85.
2nd link is the model we got in 4.86.

One of them (I think it was the 4.86 model) had an issue where one of the biodomes had a missing texture; there was a big hole in the biodome where there should have been a gray metal plate. But other than that, and the light hardpoints being fixed, it's the same model between 4.86 and 4.87.

It's not a retcon - we had the framework of a unified Zoner society back under the Council of Zoners.. and under that, I think Zoner roleplay was much better overall. But we let that fall apart and it's the situation we have now that puts the lore and the assets in conflict.


@Jinx I don't think it's about the OFs not standing up for their faction.. it's really just that the Zoner OFs are really splinter groups that have their own agendas. We don't have an official faction that represents the average Zoner the way the LN represents the liberty navy, the congress represents the junkers, etc.
And I think that that's exactly what we need.. we need an official faction whose #1 priority is the welfare of the Zoners as a whole, someone who can sit at the dev table and talk about our role in the overall story. The closest thing we have is Phoenix, but ironically I think the Natio Octivarium is closer to what we need. What we have now is just a mess and I think we need to clean it up.

A shame that model is being used elsewhere.. I really like it.

Maybe because these factions are different? And you can look for parallels to draw all you want, you won't really find another faction like Zoners. The Liberty Navy is a military organization, the junkers are a loose group of Sirius-wide scrappers and smugglers. The Zoner way is a way to live.

On an other note... why do ppl want to have a ship so massive and dreadful you crap your pants in fear and awe when you see it as a Zoner ship? I mean I got nothing against the old model, but you know... Zoners... It's not like any of them needed such in the past, nor in the future they'll need. (Maybe except TAZ, if they piss off GRN too much...)

I don't really want to start -that thread- again Thryzul. Anyway, this isn't the place.

I only brought that up to point out the fact that we have no entire-faction-representing body to talk with the dev team regarding ships, story, etc.

But to answer your question, I think people who play the Neph want to roleplay a Picard analogue, and Zoner is the only faction that lets them do that.

You forgot the Satsume, Venator and Battlestar. And they're there because as said before, we can't get rid of them. Some are still grandfathered in because they were allowed in the past, and are still being used... not sure which ones. Just like the Phantom toys are still in the mod, even if they're no longer used.

Replacing the existing Neph model again (it'll be the fourth version since 4.85) is something that can be discussed/done.

Wait a second, wtf guys!? That's the old Persephone model! Not the old Juggernaut, the hell are you talking about. The request was to put the current Persephone into its old model, that model wasn't Nephilim. :| There is nothing wrong with the current Nephilim model, this request was just about Persephone (The current one looks awesome too). If you realy ask about the Nephilim, the only thing that should be removed would be that violet-blue (or whatever color that is, that thing that looks like an umbrella) thing upside which lets the ship look a little alien-alike

It depends on who made the model, and whom he allows to use his model.

I know for granted that several models that are used in Discovery are also used in other mods, with the modeler's permission.
