revision of the ZONERS faction - to avoid yearly discussions

I would rather have it left as-is, than let certain people ruin it, because they think somehow the Zoners are less deserving of their evolution than other factions.

That said, my opinions on the subject are well known, so I'm not going to get into it again.

Zoners are individual Role play, leave the players to decide how they wish to RP their characters.

In fact, I'd say that is the very core of what it means to be a zoner.

Zoners can be peaceful, they can be tyrants, they can be spiritual, they can be atheists... the whole point of being a Zoner is the very fact that they don't want to be put into a box and have a label stuck on them that says "X,Y, Z"


Let Zoner players decide for themselves what it means to be a zoner.

As a fair few others have said,

1. have you actually consulted the zoner factions?
2. have you considered that the factions may actually have use for caps as they are?

ill stop here with a final statement:
you cannot, by the very nature of how zoners have developed, make ideas that affect all zoners equally. the proverbial hole is too deep to be fixed with one solution.

to quote Thexare and a quite good statement about ideas:
"If you're going to make a suggestion, don't halfass it
consider all potential issues and at least make a token effort to address them
otherwise you're making other peoples' jobs harder, not easier."

Let Zoner players decide for themselves what it means to be a zoner.

The only problem with this idea is that in-game, Zoners have a shared reputation when it comes to other factions.

This could make it awkward when you are friendly with one group of Zoners, but unfriendly to outright hostile with another.

first I must say that I played mostly zoners through years, since membership of zoners council and administration of a freeport. Now I play rarely, but still have zoners ships.

the biggest mistake of disco mod are Zoners caps. this cause problems since years and is the reason that we have zoners threads every now and then.

zoners should not have big warships. this is against zoners ideology.
why we have them, I don't know, but Daedric said something about.

zoners should be compared to junkers according to ships range, some small ships up to very heavy fighters and a middle size strong transport.
I wish to be like that, then nobody would complain.
if you think that the faction would be treated unfair, then look at junkers, they are doing very well, they enjoy their RP and nobody complain. not to mention that these warships are useless, no real reson for them, no real ways to RP with them.

Capships are cancer on zoners, these and own planets are the worst things that happened to Zoners.

I now that many zoners have capital ships and it would be bad thing to strip them of these.

So maybe remove the sell points, and change ID to disallow appearing of new.
It don't remove existing ships, but it fix the problem in the future.

Delete caps (make them SRP), refund SC to owners and turn Freeports into Freelancer bases. Or turn Gran Canaria into Freelancer or Neutral IFF base. Maybe even old idea about splitting zoner ID into a number of separate IDs with different repsheets might do. Zoners need a lot of clean ups.

P.S. Also about "super battle transport" - sorry, but lol. Transport are already OP enough to destroy 70% of pirate factions on the server so adding more Super Battle Transport tards into the play doesn't seems like an option for me. Devs might have another view on the problem though like usually. I'm not able to follow their logic anyway.

Remove the caps, but give Zoners OP transports.

It's a great tradeoff for everyone, in my opinion.


EDIT: In relation to Sabre's post, I agree to an extent. However, the only exception to the general populace of the Zoners where his idea should apply is the TAZ and POSSIBLY Phoenix, again, in my humble opinion.

I would hate to see Doc's Med.Force.One get removed, which is such a greatly RPed and used Zoner cap.

Tyro, and now explain please why faction capital ships and people who actually role play on them ain't raising problems. Zoners no more pure traders, that's could be only in border worlds, while edge world Zoners have to be protected. Yeah, they aren't warriors, but safety is = to amount of your guns, where's no law, just don't mention Nomad stuff. But whatever, it's not issue about a ships, but a newb which using them by a wrong way.

This thread is good example about how give no damn about Zoner faction nor Zoner players. Instead to found solution, Jinx trying to pull out what does he like.

I find it kinda interesting that (from what I have seen, but could be wrong) the people who voted to change the ship line aren't avid Zoner players, yet the people who voted to keep it are the ones who are in the 3 prominent Zoner factions, or have a lot of RP involved with their Zoner chars.

Hey Jinx, perhaps discuss first with the people who actually play Zoners more often than not, discuss with officials and Zoner groups that have a stake in this and have a long time/effort devoted to it, instead of opening a poll to public which allows people who don't like Zoners/don't play Zoners to vote?

So again, why weren't the factions consulted first? Cause I can guarantee you that if someone tried this with any other official faction(s), without first talking with the official factions privately first, there would be hell to pay.
