Why would a civilian want a Battleship?
The question being in the name...Battle?
If you need one, why not have a civilian gunship...say a modified liner as has been suggested. Upgrade turrets to a combination of gunboat and cruiser turrets. Upgrade the shield and then reduce cargo space for all the extra equipment. It would be tough, but not able to stand up to a real warship.
You could then make it available in every house system.
Just my thoughts...
Of course, the Eagle is a civilian ship, and it's actually far superior to its military counterparts.
I don't know where that fits in there, but it's worth mentioning.
Eagle is needed to be distributed around Sirius, which is true. But we don't need a civilian line of cruisers and battleships. Zoners will be recieving a Gunboat of their own. I can see that ship as an appropriate selection for civilians and even some of the outlaw affliations with limited choice.
As a small edit, I don't agree with Eagle being far superior than its military counterparts. Reason is VHFs are fairly balanced in Discovery except a few bugs which I hope are going to be tweaked with the arrival of 4.85.
Ageira WILL be developing a CORPORATE ship line. Not to be confused with a Civilian line. Think along these lines. Civilian buys limo, doesn't come standard with armor plating, noflat tires, etc. Corporate executives on the other hand in many countries ride in armored cars with noflat tires, reinforced engine blocks. Bulletproof windows, and often come with armed escorts.
However this line will not be supporting craft in the war conventional sense.
Specially designed corporate transports(personally the armored transport looks too gag, and the luxury liner doesn't fit the ideological part of a Corporate exec making a business trip)
Super Cargoship (Many more guns, more powerful shields, POSSIBLY slightly larger cargo space 5250 MAYBE, Exorbant cost talking 1.6 bil+ with a kicker of a Super Cargoship license like the battleship cept it costs an additional 1bil.) If permission of this class of vessel is given I will be asking that it be added ONLY to the Corporate IDs and not the generic Trader ID.
Improved weapons, preferably an Ageira line. Maybe just end up improved versions of the current civilian weapons. But enough off topic.
There are several ship yards about Sirius that are just carrying repeats of other ship yards. Baltimore Shipyard is one example, its owned by DSE who is a civilian Corporation. Transfer the Battleship and the Battlecruiser to Norfolk shipyard and remove the Carrier from Norfolk, this leaving it in the LN Guard system. Move the Prison liner to Baltimore and move the Transport from Planet Pittsburg. Replace the CSV with the Eagle on Manhattan. And move the CSV to Pittsburg.
So the new ships list would be this on the stations/planets
Manhattan:
Eagle
Startracker
Patriot
Baltimore Shipyard
Transport
Prison liner
Norfolk Shipyard
Liberty Battleship
Liberty Battlecrusier
Liberty Cruiser
Planet Pittsburg
CSV
Rhino
Starflier
Its just a thought anyways for some more realistic ship locations in New York space.
what you all seem to be forgetting is just because it says "civilian" in the title, it's not JUST a civilian line. I think there are like 6 factions that use the CTE line.
And NO this is not some fool excuse to give them their own ships...far from it.
What SHOULD happen is the civvies should be sold on the planets of each house...one per inhabited planet should do nicely.
Another option is selling the Eagle, Griffin, and maybe Falcon on all...ALL...Interspace Commerce Bases (Roppongi, Trenton, Waterloo, Bonn).
Also, someone somewhere mentioned station size. Great, good thinking, but riddle me this: do car dealerships have all their cars inside the building? no, they have them parked in a LOT. Why not use this concept in sirius for all you serious (no pun intended). It doesn't have to be a physical thing, just keep in the back of your mind that these stations could have several dozen fighters parked outside somewhere...it's space, they won't go anywhere.
I don't think it'd look good for the Bretonian company to start flying unlawful craft; they certainly have a reputation of being a pirate vessel. The Lane Hackers, Outcasts, Red Hessians and Bundschuh fly them, and likely help produce/develop the ship line.

The general consensus is that Borderworld ships are NOT unlawful. The only BW ships that are unlawful are the bombers (Waran and Falcata) because of their infocards. On the other hand, the infocard of the freighter and fighters don't show any evidence of them being unlawful.
Therefore, we should start selling the fighters and freighter on places like Freeport 10 and Freeport 7 (if they're adding that back in since we're no longer supporting the SP campaign). I would suggest putting the Sabre and Scimitar on a distant Freeport (best would be 10 and 7) and the Dromedary on at least one Zoner base (doesn't matter which one, but it should be on one of them since the Zoners use it). The Dagger and Stiletto can be placed on a Zoner base a bit closer to the Houses. The Hessians have their own ship, but they still use the BW ships, so we could also sell them on some Hessian bases as well (or at least around there like Freeport 5 or 3).
Carlos Rivera: Corsair Brotherhood Pirate - Retired, shifted to Tripoli Shipyard's Research and Development engineering teams Anthony Cameron: Guild Core Bounty Hunter - Killed in Action, committed suicide after being trapped in Omicron Minor following its destruction Juan Ruiz: Outcast Ghost of Razgriz Pirate - Killed in Action, killed by the Sirius Coalition Revolutionary Army during Bretonian piracy raid Michael Winchester: Liberty Security Force Agent - Missing in Action, likely killed during Rheinland espionage mission or trapped in Rheinland Space Eric McCormick: Order Pilot - Retired, shifted to planetside training of new recruits
Hm, Kuraine meant i would like to spoil everything, so.....
Hawk, Griffin and Falcon on more selling locations within houses, yes.
Eagle, no.
The triple 7 Dragon and anopther one have made good points.
Rather i would like to see the infocard of Eagle changed, than being sold by every mans dog second hand shop.
Make it a Zoner fighter for the usage in remote space. There is absolutely no reason and no sense to have a "civilian" fighter, which even outclasses top military and top criminal gear. Thats ridiculous.
Beside guard systems the Eagle should be sold on FP9, FP10 and maybe Gran Canaria. Nowhere else.
If you want the top gear, join a faction or take the long walk.
The same is for BW line. BW fighters are unlawful ones cause they are only sold on unlawful stations. The Dromedary freighter was asigned to Zoners and some others by game developers, because of a missing freighter in the civilian line. (Any other shipmodeler! Take the challenge?)
Nevertheless every house has its own freighters and they wont have the differences in 4.85 as they have now. So libertonian corporations can stick to Rhino as well as bretonians can stick to Clydesdales and so on.
Concerning a "Civilian Battleship"...............
Take the Whale. With one turret it is armed to the teeth for a civilian battleship.
