What I'm hearing is GMG going "We don't want to play with anyone. Nobody can play around here either tho".
It honestly makes me wonder how GMG hits quarterly checks without afking.

I once had a GMG ship shoot my transport in Frankfurt for 35 minutes every time I'd undock without saying a single word after initial attack lines (granted I got rightfully sanctioned for undocking + tease RP, but some banter back would have been nice)

But let's be fair here - the faction can summon many players, it's not just one, and without Mep I doubt any GMG would come after - from [RM] and Kruger perspective it's been important as GMG are canonically such a historic and important foe and we've had plenty of action.

Sigmas are gorgeous and could become way more alive, all this faction has to do is grab the opportunity in the form of all this feedback by the horns and they'd never have to scramble for activity ever again with just some small tweaks.

GMG has historically had a zero tolerance policy for third parties trying to build anything in the Sigmas. I'm not sure why people keep doing it and pulling a surprised Pikachu, this is literally one of the most consistent trends in Discovery at this point.

Sieges are no surprise, some ppl here really get off on them it seems, but I've spent a month trying to interact with this group and RP with them and they appear the day after we send a comm to a different faction, to build a POB (mind you the pob is even a role play vehicle solely), something it'd seem a Story Dev would understand.
