So far, these Slog samples have provided little in the way of useful data. The molecule of this biological toxin is exceedingly complex, and I doubt even the quantum multiplexors aboard the Amalfi will suffice to deduce its original composition.
Without any doubts, however, it is a poison - even without the array of industrial additives obviously unfit for human consumption. Artificial lab tissues exhibited rapid degradation, especially those simulating the human brain.
Do you truly wish to serve as the voice for people who willingly and without coercion subject themselves to such a substance? It is an insidious form of suicide that ultimately culminates in a critical erosion of mental faculties and the loss of control over even the most basic biological needs.

I don't know what you're trying to insinuate by asking me that.
Anyone that willingly takes this is a write-off to the cause and its objective. Unfortunate as it is, this outbreak of a new substance is acting as a filter, removing from our wider and not directly associated pool of supporters all of the people who would only prove to be a liability later.

Harsh, yet understandable.
I have another question. Let us move forward ten or fifteen years. Ciara is mature enough to accompany me - and perhaps spend a few days with you in Liberty. However, teenagers are seldom straightforward, and even a single remark or opinion can provoke them into momentary resentment toward their parents, and thus spark a desire to rebel against them and their worldviews.
What would you do if your daughter, in a fit of impulsiveness or a nudge from her friends, chose to become dependent on this - or a very similar substance as a symbol of defiance?

I'd like to think that with my perspective, I can understand rebelliousness and resentment.
She's my daughter. I'll do everything I can to protect her. Which is why I don't want to be the kind of father that expects her to take after either of us. I want to give her the time and space required to always think about what kind of person she wants to be as a young woman. I doubt it'll be easy for her given her mixed heritage being such a stark contrast. But I know that rebellion is only ever fostered in the face of repression.
This isn't to say I would be so liberal as to be neglectful. Just that I believe she would be less inclined to make stupid and impulsive decisions out of spite, because she knows her father won't treat her like a child, or refuse to hear her out.
And even if everything else fails. She's still my daughter.

Still, perdonami. I'd tried to raise you on the comms at least seven times. I even flew out to Colorado because I started to suspect our relay had been fried again but I had no luck there either. I was hoping to have dinner together, but wound up spending the night under a different shaped rock instead.
