Atum committed a restock, which was not in the plans (official and behind-the-scenes), so it's not on event team's end. But in the end, the Wild couldn't muster the force to kill it.

I should hope it wasn't in the plan. The proper course of action would be to pause the event immediately and then smite the restocking ship out of existence, forfeiting any chance of narrative victory. But now that it's too late for that, the second best thing would be to ensure the Atum's pilot never touches an event ship ever again.
