Personally, I don't really see why people are so reluctant to wear no tag at all. It's as if there's some form of stigma of not having a tag: OMGNOTAG MUST BE A LULZPLAYER WITH NO RP.
That's simply not true.

Can I just interject here? We gave plenty of warning before attacking - we'd been neaby RPing for a couple of minutes, just things hit a peak when you pirated the transport we wanted, then you ignored us. So we engaged. There was warning as prior to the attack as well. And there was a slight gap between dropping Banza's shields and torping him; I had enough time to strafe under his ship and pause, so I was a bit confused as to why he didn't move or use bats.
To be honest, me killing you was 100% fluke though. By all rights you should have wiped the floor with me, seeing as I'm a terrible PvPer, I had no hull busters and I was in a Waran.
My character has ego issues - he believes the Buccaneers are far more important than they really are, and with Leeds being their founding system, he feels pretty protective of it. You're actually the third pirate we've dealt with in the system, seeing as before we extorted some cash out of a Lane Hacker for pirating rights. It only would have been something small like 100K, but he gave us a full 500K, so meh.
EDIT: Also, we're not RPing having been around for ever. The group was destroyed in space and was then non-existent for centuries. Buccaneers have existed on Planet Leeds itself as a planetside gang during that time, but didn't have a space-borne presence. We're RPing the Buccaneers return to their past glory, so we're undergoing a period of aggressive expansion to source resources and cement our reputation. I think it's fair to say people know who we are now, anyway.
The faction draft has been changed. We decided to switch to a Freelancer IFF, to save on headaches. Everything related to the Liberty Rogues has been removed.
I've a corsair, Catalina A Blys.
She's been, ah, exploring her heritage.
One of her ancestors was once a bucaneer, who fled the sack of sherwood to Crete....
Now, my backstory's a bit old, from drafts drawn up...a while back. Even so, I hope I'll be able to use it as a solid application.

*Sigh*
I thought I was done with this after talking with Glenn, but really, apparently not.
First, whether or not there was a pause between the announcement and the actual attack, it was pretty obvious that it was pre-scripted. The SN came almost immediately after his shields were down. Besides, it was the only opportunity that you had to eliminate him via an SN. Regardless of whether you had it in mind or not, it was a cheap shot.
I was, and now am again, at the fact that your faction acts like a import from another server that just decides to walk in, and start screaming at everybody like they own the place, and have owned the place, for a long time. And I will make this clear to everyone who still has doubts.
I ABHOR IMPORTED FACTIONS THAT ACT LIKE THEY OWN THE PLACE.
And, I hate anything that tries to act like that. No, this does not mean that I dislike your RP about taxing other pirates and being competitive. That's fine. What I dislike is that you did this the DAY AFTER you posted your intent thread.
I'm not going to hold this against you personally. I think that I will continue to have many positive interactions with you and Glenn ingame, as with the other members of your faction. But so long as your faction continues to act like those imports we are so very fond of, it will never gain my approval.
Every single other person and faction here earned their place. The MR, was at one point in time, unknown. There is that transition period during which a faction, especially a non-vanilla faction, makes themselves known. I'm guessing this happened before the faction intent post, and before you announced to everyone who you were, what your intentions were, and your diplomacy?
...Because I missed that part of the movie. I guess I'll have to go back to "Chapter Select" on the DVD Main Menu.

You're talking to the guy who missed the f***ing barge from 700 meters away with the supernova. Not to mention, you took me on with a Sabre and was about to get reinforced by another Buc| vessel by the time I got killed. But of course, you didn't know it was me. So, no, this isn't your fault, but props on blaming pvp victories on luck.

THEN RP LIKE THAT.
RP like you're just getting your feet wet in space, not like you've been around in Bretonia for decades, and can actually dream of demanding credits and tribute from the Mollys, who have been established for quite a long time.
But since you think you can walk around and act like you own the place, get ready to get yourselves ripped a new one.
Quote:I think it's fair to say people know who we are now, anyway.
The day you tore us a new one we didn't.
So, pirate ID, Rogue tag, and we're instantly supposed to know that you're actually RPing a highly competitive pirate faction that is more willing to blow up a fellow unlawful than help us track down a Bretonian Battleship in the system?
You were standing aside before I called you out. You posted the damn faction intent thread the day before you jump straight into the RP.
Thank you very much for implying that I do, but no, I don't troll the forums.
So, I hope you understand why Banza and I are furious, and more furious when we found out who it was. And I will state once, that I'm not going to read another one of your excuses again.
This is like one of the situations where your best friend for twenty years goes:
"Dude, I'm sorry you caught me having sex with your wife, but it was just bad timing. You wouldn't have walked in on us if you stayed until the morning instead of talking the red eye flight."
The excuses just make it worse, and worse, and worse.

That Buc| vessel that shown up by the time you were killed was me, aswell as knowing the odds of a 3 vs 1 fight, and having been in a situtation such as that, in Liberty, I wouldn't, and didn't, join in the fighting.
As this arguement, it's been over with, no need to continue it, that goes for both sides. This is a place for constructive critism not petty flame wars.

Err... we're not an import. I don't quite understand why you're screaming at us for being one. We "act like we own the place", you say? Isn't that pretty much what any pirate faction does, really? We're levvying fees for passing through "our" territory, just like any other pirate faction.

Should we have waited a week? A month? What, exactly, comprises "acting like an import"? How does one "transition" into piracy, exactly? I would like some constructive criticism here, and if you could answer my questions in a bit more detail, I think we might be able to learn something out of it.
Personally, I'm not hurt or angry, but rather befuddled as to how we have provoked one of the most vitriolic posts I have ever seen from you. Personally, I don't quite think we deserve that sort of attack, and I hope you manage to cool off enough to answer my questions.
