' Wrote:sindroms who are You to tell us how to pirate?

Yet you continue too whine about every form of piracy and revolutanism?

Hmmm, Sindroms has a point, you ID says PIRATE, not REVOLUTIONARY, nor TERRORIST. You are the one who should be looking at your RP

You have a lot of room to talk, some of the best RP from Unlawfuls I have seen to date comes the FACTIONALIZED LANE HACKERS (Thanks Xoria and company, OH, and Phate, dang he's good), XENOS (Dusty and Jihad Joe, and all the little snakes Kudos!), and LIBERTY ROGUES (Thank You Sindroms, Ashes, and company), There are also NUMEROUS Inde PIRATES that are doing it right. EDIT: Liberty wise, no offense to factions outside of Liberty.

You sir, have no room to talk. Often those who are so screwed up and know it tend to draw attention away from themselves and try to shine it on others... Are you so insecure in what you are doing that you cannot have a mature conversation? Guilty conscience, maybe?

That is the Cancer that I speak of.

So, are you going to be a carcinoma, or part of the chemotherapy?

P-Trans > Gunboat, I think. Pity many people don't think that way. Not only can you blow up a trader that refuses to pay, but you can suck up all his cargo and take it back to base for profit. It also has enough fire power to take out a Gunboat, and luckily since most Gunboats in Liberty mount 1-2 missiles, you have an extra advantage.

If it were up to me, the Outcast Guard ID would not be allowed to enter Liberty at all, the Liberty Rogue Guard ID would only be able to operate in Independent systems (Gallieo, Kelper, Bering, Hudson, Magellan, Cortez, Ontario(?), Alberta, Yukon, Cassini etc.) That would stop those Destroyers from messing up the place. Similar restrictions should be in place for the Lane Hacker Battleship too, I think. It's supposed to be a very rare prototype ship...

I remember the LR-. Lovely days. Del did well to teach everyone what it really is to be a pirate. Sometimes, I think I should still be there.

Anyway, I support what Sindroms says. It's alright to sometimes get into a fight with Police and Navies, but, unless the numbers are on your side, it's really not a good idea. They're better trained, in better ships (generally), and, well, are basically better, in RP. Of course, getting caught into a fight, stuff like that, happens. What can you do? It happens. It should not be a goal, though. That is what I believe the point was.

It should never be a pirate's goal to engage in a fight with the Navy. It should also never be a Police Officer's goal to get into a fight with a pirate. That, too, is a problem. It's a mentality on both sides, one that we're ultimately here to PvP. This is not true. Police should try and deal with Pirates with as little violence as possible. I mean, you're not the Navy. You're not as well equipped or trained or, well, anything. Navies, well, they're the Navy. They get called when stuff needs to explode. That's a different matter...

Anyway, point stands. If you're a true pirate, as most of the pirates in Liberty are, you really shouldn't be looking for a fight first and foremost. In fact, you should probably try to avoid it at all costs. Your engine might just fall off that Hyena, piece of junk it is. And think of the time wasted when you're fighting the Navy. You could be waiting for that next gold shipment in your Switchblade....

See, pirates attacking military units is not profitable in any way shape or form. The fact that it is a bunch of petty criminals versus an armada makes it laughable even.

And no, think about it, if companies see their convoys unprotected, will they send them there?

If Rogues attack liberty, companies like Cryer, Ageira, ect ect would stop trade there all together or would hire much larger escorts.

See, not only you get blown up, but your main source of income is crippled.

In short

By attacking military targets, pirate cripple themselves

' Wrote:Wouldn't blowing up as many Navy ships as possible be wise for a pirate faction? If the LN's capital fleet is crippled in RP, wouldn't that give the Pirate factions basically freedom to do whatever they wish?

Just a thought.

Wrong. Consider, for example, just how stupid it would be for the thugs on your nearby street corner to attack the nearby military base. Or even the police station. In RP, House forces have vastly superior equipment to the crap that most pirates fly around. Corsairs and Outcasts are the notable exceptions, but they are rarely if ever seen in House space.

"Real life" is not a videogame, and there is no way that a band of criminals would be able to take on and cripple the military forces of a House.

The RL comparisons are irrelevant.

If you make it nearly impossible to get a terrorist ID on the server, don't whine and moan when other people want to RP terrorists.

Sheez.

You guys need to really understand the difference between pirates and other unlawfuls. Just because someone is wearing an unlawful ID and IFF does NOT make them a pirate. Read the infocards for each faction ... you'll find that MANY unlawfuls are not really pirates. While their ID "permits" them to pirate ... they are not all strictly pirates.

Outcasts are not pirates ... together with Corsairs, they would have become the 5th house (Hispania). Red Hessians are not pirates ... Blood Dragons are not pirates ... Liberty Rogues are not pirates ... Xenos certainly are not pirates ... Mollys are not pirates. Read the infocards ... you'll find there's a LOT more role play involved in these ID's than most "lawfuls" are willing to play along with. The ONLY thing lawfuls see in unlawfuls is pirates and terrorists. They are a lot more complex than you guys are willing to give them credit for.

The ONLY 100% true pirates are those with Pirate ID's. They have no other allegiences. Blood Dragons are looking to topple the present leadership of Kusari ... that's pretty much their main goal ... not piracy. Red Hessians are busy fighting with the Corsairs over ownership of much of the Omega systems. Outcasts and Corsairs are pretty much the Hispania house in a civil war. Mollys are bitter against Bretonia and the BMM over gold. Gaians are eco-terrorists. Liberty Rogues are basically thugs (mixed bag of nuts). Pirates (that is those with the Pirate ID) ... well ... they are just plain and simple pirates.

Actually, I think Liberty Rogues and Gallic Brigands are the only NPC "pirate" factions that are actually just pirates, with no lofty goals to work towards. This has always been one of the things that bothered me about the factions. Though yes, indy pirates with pirate IDs can represent the common "pirates" that we're supposed to see.

And I have to say, LR *are* just pirates.

And please, let's now throw around "wahh wahh wahh lawfuls/unlawfuls are doing this to my unlawful/lawful character and I'm going to whine now!" bit. It only serves to fan the flames. On all my characters, I try to go to that deeper level of RP, but one of the problems is that it's just so hard to find the appropriate opponent to RP with. I mean, there's too many damn zoner traders going around in their whales! My Gaian wants to find Planetform traders to interact with! I'm sure Lane Hackers would want to interact with Ageira transports, etc. And on the other side of things, there's a bunch of pirate or freelancer IDed unlawfuls that go around shooting up stuff, whatever happened to being a factionalized unlawful? Oh, that's right, it gets in the way of MORE PEWPEWING.

@ Hawkwings: Actually ... if you read up on them (infocards and rumors) ... you'll find that Liberty Rogues are not 100% pirates. They're a group of "criminals" that have banded together ... think mafia and organized crime. Piracy is just one of their MANY tactics. Pirates with the Pirate ID ... they have no other agenda ... just piracy. Liberty Rogues are ALSO involved in smuggling. Buffalo and other Liberty Rogue bases are drop off points for contraband (most notably Artifacts and Cardamine). Delivery's to Buffalo are spread to other parts of Liberty Space. Read up.
