' Wrote:could I suggest that the tau 31 route be left as is but a time limit placed on, rather like kick on base camping for instance?
I find it useful if i need a few quick bucks but by god is it boring!!! an hour of that will make my eyes bleed.
it does serve a purpose but you should be limited to 30 mins there and then get teleported somewhere else, nowhere nasty but a long way from there.
anyway, i enjoying my sirius circular route, takes in most of the map, takes about 45 mins to do and I make a good profit from it too.
No that's just too much work for the modder, if it is even possible to do something like that. It's a much better solution to cripple that ridiculous OORP route.
"To gain a hundred victories in a hundred battles is not the highest excellence;
to subjugate the enemy's army without doing battle is the highest of excellence."
IMO i think the route should be nerfed. I am a Pirate but i have successfully Pirated the route. With me in a GB and my friend in a bomber we literally force them to pay fees for their survival. You charge them say 2mil and you will not do anything to them again. You dont kill the target just damage.
You are basically playing on the fact they are there to make money fast and if you are blocking them therefor slowing then down. They will eventually reaslise its easier just to pay you and be done with it. I did a short TAU bust up and got around 16mil for its for around 1 hours work and it was fun aswell.
Not as much as trading mind but it pays the bills.

@ pipsqueak: My gunboat can only mount level 8 turrets. Sorry - the level 9 guns don't work for me.
@ globalplayer-svk: That's the right attitude. ;)
FYI - In order to pirate Tau 31, you've pretty much gotta throw out the "no dock camping" rule. If you wait until they're in control, its too late and they've already quick docked. To fix this problem, I agree to moving the battleship a few clicks further out.
The RP problem (prisoners) could be solved by switching the direction: Buy at Macduff, sell at Harris. The Macduff could me moved to somewhere near the Leeds JG, for KNF "prisoner rescue" runs.
Keep in mind Corfu doesn't have an unlimited passenger capacity either...
The farther the bases, the more time it takes to make the same amount of money. This could convince people to go on other runs.
' Wrote:Well, the pirates could easily orbit Harris with a squad of 2 or 3 bombers and say 'Any trader that doesn't pay up NOW, will be destroyed upon leaving the dock.'
That will either force them to stop trading there, or force them to pay after getting seeing a lot of ships get blown up quickly.
EDIT: Hell, A GB could easily block the mooring fixture on Harris, too.
Except that most of the time, if any pirate starts heading toward Tau 31 tons of traders jump into their warships all the sudden. Battleships, cruisers, etc; it usually is suicide to bother trying. All the other traders either stay docked until all the battleships and cruisers show up - or they simply rush back and forth making it nearly impossible to stop them. There are occasions when no defenders are there, but most of the time you would need a huge battle group just to attempt it.
For example, about a week ago 5 corsairs (including myself) tried to hit Tau 31. We met a heavy wall of defenders which we were barely able to defeat. Then a Molly faction showed up and defended the traders!! Where do in all of the world of RP can Mollys defend traders?!? :unsure:I'll tell you, it's not in the world of RP, those Mollys have very active trader chars that they use to make money in 31 so they switch into their warships and as "pirates/terrorists" defend the good guys...
I know I am a noob to this server - but I'm not really sure why people defend this route... I used it for all of about 2 days until I realized what a scam it was. And that was only because it was the only good route I knew. I'm not proud of it, and I wont do it again.
Just look at all the trouble with ooc and non RP that has been taking place there. That tells you everything you could ever want to know about the people that use the route. I admit, I probably am guilty of some ooc chat when I was there - it's hard not too. That's why I now avoid Tau like the plague (as far as trading goes).
Don't mean to step on a bunch of veteran's toes. Just had to get that off my chest.
