I some situations it's appropriate to demand a trader drops all cargo and effs off.

FA or LWB to Synth or whatever, you get the idea.

Though there is some truth that such a rule wouldn't be completely unwelcomed.

In some right rp basis it's basicly good for any faction, if those ones who meet each other are in war.

I have slight feeling that "pirate" the guy is describing was a Xeno. And they have no other option but to ask to drop all cargo.

Ye .. adding more rules and restrictions, limiting roleplay and pvp is what we need to make server more fun and to bash and nerf pirates even more. I never expected that such proposal will come from n00blet actually. We already have 0.0 what for is creating even more restrictions?

Ye, anyway. Taking into account how the guy said, he managed to kill the gunship... that means that gunship didn't know of what he is doing, so most likely he's some new guy .. who don't have a good sense of rp yet..

Uh, no other ID (not counting the ooRP ones) protects you from being engaged without a prior demand? If I'm flying any other lawful, the pirates can engage me at will; if I'm flying a pirate even other pirates can engage me if they feel like it (and have a valid RP reason to). If I'm flying a trader, I can essentially do what I want except for entering certain systems; as long as I pay up nobody without a Keeper or Terrorist ID is allowed to touch me.

...and that's why every ID should include a line warning people from metagaming.

Should they? In the age when jumpgates transmit data trough interstellar distance so fast we that we can holo-chat on the neural? I say intel travels faster than any of us. In that case especially.

Heck no, I wouldn't do that.

Some Pirates are awesome at the job, with rp that makes you laugh and makes it easier to rp with them. In those cases it's pretty much a win-win situation, the Pirates in question get some $$ and I get some entertainment.

Yep, we do have some dummies among us Traders, I'll freely admit that.

I'll also say it once again, I'm not so good at rp, but I try and I guess that makes a difference. :$

Here's the deal, if you say the maximum amount you are able to pirate is 5 million, every piracy demand will be 5 million, if you make it 10, every pirate will demand 10. If you wake it 2, there is no point in piracy as the pirate is just a glorified tax collected since virtually every trader will pay 2 million credits and walk away with the rest of his 10 mil without blinking an eye.

This is just traders not wanting there to be any risk to trading. Sorry guys trading is not like buying a government bond. It's not a guaranteed investment, and people should not think and act like it is. I trade alot, I rarely get pirated, you want to know why? I dont make it easy to pirate me, I dont trade tabbed out, I dont use the trade lanes as often, I avoid systems that tend to have alot of pirates.. Yes, I may make money a bit more slowly than others, but at the end of the day, I will have more money and it will be safe because I treat trading as a risk, and protect my money. This is just some people want a guaranteed way to make money, not the risks of rping a trader.

Agreed Zelot.

Trading = risk, that's fair enough to say.

I trade a little every day, I'm not looking to get the biggest fanciest ship out there, just the ones I want.
I spent an hour or so in Opus (my trader) drifting around in the helium cloud in Pennys today. Filled my hold full of helium and made a bit over 2.5 million credits.

I trade like you do, I use my "long range scanner" to check systems I have to travel through for Pirates I know about, mostly keep off of the TL's and use Jump Holes instead of Gates, depending where I am.
It takes longer for to get to where I am going, but more often than not I get there without Pirates even getting a sniff of me, although sometimes it is obviously more due to good luck than judgement.
