First, I have seen few suggestions to restrain Navy/Military's work. That's silly really.. can't find any other word to describe it sorry.

Second, only thing that would fix this is making new line of police ships to replace "outdated" and add few extras, as higher speeds and maybe higher projectile speed and what ever you think off that would be appealing but not overpowered or doesn't includes SNAC on LF..

Well, my suggestion is this. Stop using Light Fighters, and bump up to Heavy Fighters at least. Have a single Gunboat or Two for heavy support. Use Bombers, if need be. There's no need to hinder yourself by only using Light Fighters.

What if you gave all Police factions a LF that could mount a Lite Mini Razor...about 1/4 the strength. Also, limit the amount of mines to half. Give it no more than two Class 8 guns (assumably for Shields).

It would be a cool little ship with a little bite, that might be fun to fly and garner some interest in the police fations again.

Just a thought...

In real life, criminals fear the police. Reason: Police are more and better equipped, better trained and have a general advantage in most confrontations.

In Disco Police fear criminals. Reason: equipment restriction.

Pick Dublin: Many many pirates are in gunboats. Many dirty freelancers are in Gunboats. You can talk to them... but to what use?

And if you say that LF and HF are enough... no. They don't compete on even terms. Eat a mine at a bad moment and you are gone.

I would love to play a BPA. But not without a VHF, so that - if forced into battle - I can participate in that part of the game on equal terms.

You can't be the minority, with worse equipment, and the responsibility to talk to people who will gladly shoot you after a pre-defined message was fired at you. You need something that can stand the first rain of laser. And to bite back if it has to.

Yeah, right. Nerf them even more, give them flashlights instead of real guns. Then they meet Loki (Hessian light fighter with a REAL Mini-Razor) and are all like "screw it, I gonna join some unlawful faction, they have cool ships and can kill everybody they don`t like".
Police needs exclusive SHFs. With SNACs. And with extra dedicated CD slots for stopping smugglers.

There is NO problem that can`t be solved by the use of high explosives.

Well as stated before,one of the most problems you have as a Police Officer is,that the Navy claims your field of activity for themself.Another big part is,that most people just give a **** (sorry for the word) of an Police officer.there are enough situations where it happens that the Police Officer stops a trader for Cargo scan and is ignored as long as the Officer a) CD's him or b) disrupt the lane or even c) a navy comes a long and says,he can go,ignoring that the officer told the trader to stop.What in my eyes would help,to show the people out there,that the Police is equal to the Navy,even when they don't have the bling bling ships and bling bling guns as the Navy has.Maybe it would also help to give the Police some special priveleges which only they have,for example,that the Navy wouldn't be able to claim the bounties on the Criminal Databases.

You have to look at the facts. An LPI ID is basically just a gimped version of the LN ID. You gain nothing by choosing to use an LPI ID over an LN ID.

LN ID can use Cruisers and Battleships by default, they can operate in independant worlds and in Texas, and they can preform all the house-keeping jobs an LPI officer can.

A Liberty Navy ID can do everything an LPI ID can do and more. It makes the police ID obsolete.

Giving the Police Factions extra equipment won't work. Take a look at the RFP, they have their own ship in that Super Heavy Fighter. Did it increase activity? Not really.

What Police Factions need is rights. Something they can do, and only they can do, something that Navy IDed players are incapable of doing with their IDs. Something that's an important peacekeeping job.


My suggestion would be that only Police IDed ships are allowed to confiscate cargo and levvy fines on law breakers. Naval groups could also be restricted from attacking certain smaller, less threatening unlawful groups. (ie, unpopular ones, which would give people more reason to play those unpopular factions, thereby increasing the activity of two different factions with one ID clause)

Also, people, Police factions are NOT restricted to using only Light Fighters and Heavy Fighters. Get that out of your heads, right now. That is a player paradigm started by the LPI that became so common and so well known that people now think it's a rule or something.

Police can fly Bombers, Police can fly VHFs, and correct me if I'm wrong it's been a long time since I looked at a Police Guard ID, but I believe they are allowed to use Gunboats.

Maybe something will be done about it then:)I personally have seen LPI in Liberty and they do a reasonably good job, but overall I agree with what Ashes said. Its something definitely that should be coded or set so that both 'police' in all factions and 'navy' are sufficiently separated

frankly, police factions are ones of the least lolwutting ones. people play them for the rp. matter of fact, you folks should be proud of the fact. no lolcap spamming players will make a police character. no pvp oriented newbies will make a magma libby, which is quite deadly in packs.

kudos to police folk!
