Man Zapp, please do the community a favor and read before you vote. That is exactly how we get people in office who have no reason to be there is because the uninformed voter. Now done basting you hope you don't take major offence and hunt me every where.;)

We do have energy/matter conversion. Look at tractor BEAM. Not grapnel, not winch, not park next to it and throw it in the back of the truck, but BEAM, TRACTOR BEAM. which implies it goes both ways. No doors open when I jetison cargo, it just appears probally BEAMed.

Life lesson think before you vote. Even if you disagree you'll have something to argue with and have your opinion and credibilty respected. :)

Ugh. No. It's already been stated that in RP all enemy targets are still enemy targets. And I think that the BHG example is a good one. Some of those NPCs can REALLY get annoying. Although in some places (i.e. Liberty), the NPCs are so weak that you could probably just rampage through them, getting tons of B/B, in others they can pose an actual threat. And, if you really get down to it, are 4 or 5 extra B/B really going to affect the outcome of a fight spectacularly? Only if the fight is EXTREMELY close will it have too much effect.

Take something like this to the PMs, mate.

Now, getting bots and bats from NPCs are perfectly fine. Like several have put, it's not exactly easy to dodge and blast NPCs at the same time. Again, not a PvP server, but an RP server.

This is different from shield running. At least, this requires a good deal of effort to execute, and isn't half as effective when the NPCs drop...what? 5-8 bots/batts at most?

It depends.. If you instant kill them, they drop all bots/bats..
If it drags out, they use some bots/bats, and you get less.
So, point is to kill them fast.
That's why Nukes and Missiles are effective. (against high level NPC's, like Hammerheads in Edge worlds)

Try insta-killing them with two player controlled ships bearing down on you? Don't think so. Maybe you can manage it, but most can't.

Voted YES

Rationale: Killing friend or foe (doesn't matter) for the sole purpose of getting more bats/bots is ridiculous. Killing your enemy NPCs because they are causing you trouble in a fight is a different story.

Proposals:
#1: Turn bats/bots OFF on the server
#2: If we keep bats/bots ON ... then do not allow NPCs to drop them when killed. This will force us all to kill the NPCs because they are a threat and not just to harvest bats/bots.

Option #2 would alleviate this problem without interfering with the bat/bot usagemits.

That's the point I was going to make when I read the first page.

When I'm in a fight in New Berlin *shudders* the NPC swarm is crazy! Ca-Ra-Zy! I find it hard to stay on target sometimes because my reticule jumps to another red target. In the midst of the brawl, I'm still shooting...NPC Hessian blows up. It wasn't intended and I have to open my hud and find the *real* target. If you're in a major brawl most everything, if not everything, is red to you.

If you mine your own NPC's...that's a no no. But even that is hard to prove.

As a player, it sucks. As an admin...I don't even want to think of the headaches that would cause.

@mjolnir: Actually, its one from ages past ;).

However, in an NPC swarm, you dont even need to work to get B/B off the enemy. Just spam Nuke mines, and hope your enemy doesn't have a cruise distruptor...

I did this once, not to gain bots, but to clear my HUD of red thingies. It was in Rheinland too, so there were Rheinland police NPC's biting the dust alongside Hessians and LWB from the mines... must admit, took all of 30 seconds to kill five of them... o.O
