Subject: Problems with having lovers staying alive





Lo siento for the vagueness, but I'm afraid what'll happen if anyone finds out I'm typing about this... especially my current lover.

See, I'm currently in love with a good man, and I even get to stay and work alongside him. A little anti-social, and rough around treating other people's feelings with tact, but I know deep-down he's a sweet guy. However, the problem is not with him. It's more with me. The title may understandably shock you, but I don't know what else to use, since it's the truth anyway.

See, by now he already knows about much of my past, but I don't think he truly understands the magnitude of it. Before him, I've had several good men to be my lovers--- AY! NOT IN A MULTI-WAY, mind you, let me finish! Thing is, what's common with all of them is that they're all currently in paradise.

And how they died is also common among them: we entered a sort of ambush/trap/disaster/etc, circumstances made that only one of us could come out alive, and so it's my lover-at-the-time who decided to act as the bait while I escaped. I can't give details of each of them for fear of revealing too much, but let's just say that they were great men.

Even worse is that the reason for my troubled past is simply because I'm of Corsair-origin. I'm not saying I want to escape from my heritage, far from it! But I'm saying is that if you came from the largest pirate-house in Sirius you'd automatically have a lot of enemies simply for existing. I also hate to admit it, but I can be a [A.D.M.I.N. censored] sometimes. So bottom line, people want me dead, they catch me and my lovers at the worst possible time, my lover gets killed off, and I get psychologically-scarred.

So now for the problem... Me and my current lover have just been involved in another such disaster, and though we've apparently walked away with both our lives (barely, in fact), I'm afraid that our luck might eventually run out.

Even long before that, we've had ANOTHER time when his ship blew up, and he was lucky his pod was retrieved safely. For the whole time I didn't know he was alive, I was crying so, so bitterly that the Gods seemed to have granted me the Black Widow's Luck... And when I found out he was alive, I had internally vowed myself to never let this one go again. But I fear I won't have the strength in me to keep that vow.

And there is... something else that he doesn't know about, but might be important. I'm unable to bear children. Radiation from undertaking the Rite of Adulthood, you see. I've seen my lover a few times look at families with their loving children, and he would look at them with a somewhat contemplative stare for a brief moment. The thought that I won't be able to fulfill that wish (if push comes to shove) pains me so much. I wanted to have a talk with Doc Holliday since I heard he was the best in these parts, see if he could help my condition, but apparently he's quite busy, and I also haven't been able to schedule a proper meeting.

Now for my question. Based on all this info, is it right of me to think about separating from all intimate-ties, at least until I'm certain my enemies have grown weary of going after me? It may sound cowardly of me, I know, but I don't think you know the hell that I've been through to fight for my right to have a relationship, only to have it be taken away from me by the hands of my enemies. If I separated myself from men, no one else special to me has to die. No one has to sacrifice their lives for me so needlessly. On the other hand, I would be giving him the chance to find another woman to share his life with, maybe someone who could give him a proper family.

A strong part of me wants to stay with my lover, but if you were him, would you give your heart to someone who brings a lot of misfortune to your life, let alone being sterile? Another part of me contemplated on suicide... but no, I had obligations to uphold, a House to try and feed, so I couldn't bring myself to it.

So what do you think, Señorita Concordia? I of course hate to leave him, but I might find some peace, knowing that by the time I finish untying my loose-ends I'll be able to come back to a lover who's preferably alive... or, if he does find another, then at least he'll get to have the family he so deserves.
